It is not the end!

Yes, there is a flavor of a finale, without giving anything away, you will realize with the new developments, the storyline has opened a whole new direction for our favorite characters. I did check on E J Copperman site to assure myself and discovered Berkeley publishing has decided not to renew this series but another publishing house has opted the series for at least 2 more books, hopefully many more. Yay, big sigh of releif. The next in the series currently scheduled for 2018.

I adore this series it's fun, with great repartee between the character. Equal parts mystery and fantasy, throw in some snark wonderfully portrayed by the talented Amanda Ronconi and you're in for a rollicking good time! The books are stand alone but if you want to thoroughly enjoy this series start at the beginning. If you love paranormal mysteries with humorous repartee this series is a must. Stop reading if you are sold. Not sold yet, consider this...after sustaining a bump on the head you can suddenly see and talk to ghosts, and these ghosts can contact other ghost, one of these books has John Lennon and "friends" jamming in your bed breakfast. One of the ghost isn't wild about how you are decorating your house and employs inventive way of expressing displeasure, one a frustrated detective knocked off on his very first case. If ever I need my "spirits" lifted l find myself frequently revisiting this favorite ghost series. Guaranteed fun!

Least favorite of series

Possible spoilers.
I have loved this series but Spouse on Haunted Hill irritated me. Mulroney threatened them & has no right to search their home and they said "fair"?! It is NOT Steven's home regardless if he is Melissa's father so no he does not need to be there which is putting his daughter in harms way. Grow up and deal with the consequences. Also, if Melissa is as grown up as they constantly say, she needs to be told these things and Allison is not the bad guy. Honestly (and sadly) the last chapter was the only thing I liked about the whole book.

No longer on plus, but I must

I was able to borrow the Haunted Guesthouse series on Audible plus, but the later books are purchase only :( and Audible won’t let me exchange books anymore, they’d rather lose my business entirely, but I love this series, so I won’t quit. The Swine is, as usual, very swineish, he’s great when it benefits him, but behind that facade is his true nature, swine. I’m glad everything works out for Allison, Mellissa, Maxie and the house despite Paul’s persistence in attempting to either blow it up or burn it down via electricity. I know the time will come when he and Maxie are meant to move on, but until then Copperman’s wit and Ronconi’s spunky and sassy delivery will keep me entertained.

Cute but moves slow

This audiobook moves slow but is OK story. Narrator has a grating voice but stick with it because she gets better. I'm going to listen to book 2 and will leave a review.

Another good one!

One thing I feel like the other forgot is that Maxi offered to teach Paul how to leave the property and it said she taught someone else that, but he refused (this was a couple books ago) and he even made a comment about it being a positive experience to have one place just stay, so that doesn’t make sense with other parts in her stories when he acts all depressed about not being able to go elsewhere. But it was another fun one in the series!

Haunted Guesthouse Series

Plot. Alison Kirby, a 30-something divorced mother of a nine-year-old girl, purchases a large seaside fixer-upper house to create a vacation inn. During rehab of the property, Alison is hit on the head with a bucket of wallboard compound. She comes to with an amazing new ability. She can see ghosts. Two live in her home, a distinguished private investigator, Paul, and a saucy and misbehaving home decorator, Maxie. Alison makes a deal with her ghosts - she will help Paul with his private investigations if he and Maxie help her put on ghostly shows to keep a steady flow of guests for her inn. The novels traverse the lives of Alison, her daughter, mother, ghosts, and assorted quirky friends, like the local police chief and newspaper owner. Murders are solved, missing persons are found, and occasional mayhem ensues. The series, at this time, consists of 8 full-length novels and two shorts. More to come, no doubt!

Liked. Delightful listening. Sarcastic and funny lead character, excellent character development, a creative plot line for each book, no sex, no objectionable language.

Not so hot. A bit slow for my taste - not criticism, rather a preference.

Written by E.J. Copperman, narrated by Amanda Ronconi, Audible originals, first story released in 2013. Each novel is 8-10 hours of listening.

Recommended - nothing profound, simply fun reading.

The Swine

I don't think I'll ever hear that without thinking of these books. Man I hate that man. He does remind me of a lot of ex husbands though or ex wives it depends on the situation. This was another great book though the ending was very though the ending was very happy and very sad at the same time because 2 different things happened. I don't want to give them away. But it's another hit and I can't wait for the next book. The narrator does an amazing job with these characters and goes from female to male voice seemlessly

Cozy conclusion.

This is what seems to be the conclusion to the series. And a satisfying conclusion it is, even if the story itself (I'm sad to say) is not as good as I'd hoped. Too much of "The Swine" and an overly long and suspension of disbelief stretching showdown.

I choose to view this book as a part of the series and thus I see it in a more positive light. I've enjoyed the series. The irreverent humor and Amanda Ronconi's great narration in particular.

If Copperman decides to continue the series in spite of the "end of the series" feeling, I don't think I'll read any more books.

Lovely as ever

I have spent many pleasant hours following Allison's adventures, and this one tried her patience and caustic sense of humour with very entertaining results. It appears as if the author wanted to provide us with some sort of closure in case he didn't get to continue with the series, and I appreciated the reassurance about the fate of this bunch of much-loved characters. I have seen there is one more book published in the series, and another one in the works, which is great news! I can't wait for Audible to release the audiobook, please hurry!

Good fun story

I really have enjoyed this book series and there are still many more books to come. Amanda Ronconi's performance is wonderful as always. The story was interesting and funny. I had an idea what was going on and most people will guess the situation. But it's just an enjoyable ride.

Great premise for a tv drama

I have listened to eight of these books now. Really good story ideas. Great setting and I love the characters. Alison can be irritating at times but that is the way she is written, Amanda Ronconi reads her really well, it’s just so much of what she says is patronising. And the over reference to the ‘swine’ went on too much in this book. Using his name or saying the ex would have been better in my view.
Amanda brings this whole series to life with her excellent characterisation and sarcastic intonation.
Although her driving around in a ‘vulva’ did make me laugh out loud. Missed that one in the edit.
One the whole. I would highly recommend these books , very uplifting and entertaining.
Thank you for doing such a great job.

Love series but need to check details

Absolutely love this series, really enjoying the books & all the characters, however please check details before quoting things. The narrator states they are watching Young Frankenstein & it was their favourite bit where Gene Hackman pours soup on to a lap...
Gene Hackman isn't in Young Frankenstein
Maybe should have gone with Gene Wilder instead...

Like a step back in time

I love this series. The plots are simple but the characters save the day. The narration is a highlight and deepens the cultural experience for readers from other countries like myself. I just wish the stories were clearly numbered so I could read them in order. Melissa, the child in the story, gets older and younger in random order!

Another great book

Engaging character and a quirky tale.

I really enjoy this series and find the story engaging, with a humorous spin on solving a murder
