Spotless

Island Chaptal - nerdy IT engineer by day, romance novel junkie by night - just walked into her messy New York apartment to find Mr. Right waiting for her. No, wait...Mr. Clean.

A gentleman professional killer with a bad case of OCD and zero tolerance for unsorted laundry, March wants the diamond her late mother stole for a sinister criminal organization. Island agrees to help him find it. Racing from Paris to Tokyo against villains who dismember first and ask questions later, the buttoned-up Island quickly develops a taste for the fast life, and for her brooding captor's impeccable manners and sexy chest hair.

But can she survive falling for a hit man?

Beating Ruby

March and Island are back, but there's a new player in the game....

Life hasn’t been quite the same for computer engineer Island Chaptal since March, an OCD-ridden professional killer, burst into her life to clean her bedroom and take her on a global chase for a legendary diamond...before he broke her heart.

Since then, Island has found solace in Alex - the perfect boyfriend - and Ruby, a software project about to revolutionize online banking security...for the worse. When Island’s boss is found dead after allegedly using Ruby to steal a vast fortune, it’s up to her to clear his name and recover the money.

From New York to Zürich, it’s going to take the return of a cleaning expert, a mini-octopus, and Island’s wits to beat Ruby. All while deciding whether to trust a man who already jilted her, or one who may have his own deadly secrets…

Crystal Whisperer

Sweet Raptor Jesus, this is it! Or maybe not....

Island Chaptal is enjoying a pleasant break in South Africa with reformed cleaning expert March, and she's looking forward to her long-awaited first time...until a commercial flight disintegrates over the Atlantic, killing hundreds, and Island's supervillain dad makes the news as the mastermind behind the attack. Old Lion Dries is now on the run, and he calls upon his last ally - and favorite disciple - March.

From the streets of Venice to the turquoise waters of French Polynesia, March and Island embark on a deadly race against the clock to find out what secrets lie behind Dries’s downfall. This time, however, there might just be no winning against the enigmatic Crystal Whisperer's terrifying weapon....

Butterfly in Amber

He's waiting for you....

Under a blanket of snow, surrounded by dark woods and a frozen sea, lies an ogre's castle. There lives a little princess, trapped in the maze of her own mind.

On a battlefield where the past meets the present stand a fairy godmother and a pirate, an old ice cream man and a knight in shining clean armor....

The clock is ticking fast, and to pierce the ogre's secrets and defeat him, Island Chaptal will have to fight to remember...and stay alive.

Apache Strike Force, a Spotless Novella

With his nose-mounted sensor, night vision system and 30 mm chain gun, Simon Halder isn’t your average helicopter dad, and when Island, the daughter he thought he had lost, reappears after eight months of captivity, someone’s gonna have to pay.

That someone is Island’s new boyfriend: the man people just call March.

ABSOLUTELY BEST EVER!!!

I don't usually write reviews. This book was entertaining and fun! The narrator did a fabulous job! I love the self deprecating humor by the heroine. March is the perfect hero. If you ever read silly romance novels and have since grown out of them, but yet....... down deep always wished that the premise of a romance novel could somehow be revisited, modernized, improved, with believable dialogue and (somewhat believable) danger, and just enjoyed again like once upon a youth, then I think you will love this book as much as I did. This is the only book that I have ever listened to back to back. Upon my third go thru, about half way, I realized I could put March and Island away now. This book has likable leading characters, interesting supporting characters, fantastic and imaginative story plot lines. (remember this is a novel) but the best is the tongue in cheek humor. And you will be surprised over and over again by the characters and plot twists. Plus I'll never stop loving a happily-ever-after. This is a book to just relax and enjoy the ride... It was FUN!!

Camilla should have stopped at 3 books

This is one of those stories where the writer runs out of things to write about, so she just starts writing about anything. The first three books were great, but the forth seemed like it was written by someone else. It was so far fetched, that it became silly. BUT to the narrator Amy McFadden, I give all five stars for her performance.

A very well-written & performed Action/ Suspense

Although I dislike all the bad language and sexually graphic scenes and violence, the story itself was very well written and captivating. NOTE: There was no sexual intimacy in this first book of the boxed Spotless Series.
In this first book Island is rooming with a quirky, free soulful friend. One evening after her friend had gone out, Island returned home to an apartment which was usually in disarray, to discover it was totally clean and orderly
but hidden in the shadows was a very tall, attractive man with impeccable politeness. She soon learned Match was a mercenary with principles.
He demanded her to give him something or he would be forced to force her to tell. What resulted was a kidnapping and constant series of events leading to an unexpected conclusion. The conclusion ending to a perfect lead-in to the next book of the series.
The characters were often endearing in a psycho kind of a way. The villains were truly cruel yet, seemingly, mostly well mannered. Island was fairly pathetic but humorous. One can not feel a love-hate regard for each of them.
I reluctantly have to offer an objective Five Stars rating on the literary points of this writing and performance.

Perfect Escape

I LOVE this series. Never heard of this author but now I am totally hooked. Books 1-3 are charming adventures for anyone who has read generic spy, nerd, romance and adventure books. Quotes at the beginning of chapters are tongue in cheek and just hilarious. The story and characters are well developed, flawed but likeable. I was not prepared that in book 4 everything changes and it is very dark, but again excellent. Can hardly wait for more in this series.
The narrator does and excellent job and really puts character and emotion into her performance - AAA+.

Great concept, mostly cozy, diminishing returns

This is fun, if often exasperating, chick-lit that reminded me of 80s TV, ala Remington Steele. I loved the action, adventure, and cheesy romance humor. I did not like the lack of growth for naive, bumbling, forever the damsel Island Chaptal- which steadily wore down my enjoyment as each book increased my dislike for her.

Island, the heroine, is a 25 year old virgin who is ever the ditzy damsel, surviving on pluck and an internal, comedic monologue. March, the hero, is a hitman with OCD with a surprisingly complex and heartbreaking past. He was by far my favorite character. But, this series is full of colorful, unique characters from Kalahari, the French bombshell to Gerald, the passive-aggressive orange tree and a Roomba surfing cat..

The narration is spectacular, with British, French and Japanese accents. The chapter lead-ins from fictional, cheesy romance books are over-the-top hilarious. This is not a cozy on the action/mystery side, because there are F-bombs and GDs, plus hitman violence and torture. But the romance side is a big giant cozy tease, with nothing more than a kiss or two, a suuuper slow burn all the way through the series… and (finally) the virtually fade to black get together at the end of book 4 (seriously, it’s a kiss, and pain, and literally the author writing “it’s done” ... ugh, most frustrating not-sexy-scene ever). The books go off the deep end in book 4, with a Moonraker finish… but I liked the cheesy bond movie and mostly tolerated this last book for the sake of the series.

As separate books, I loved book 1, liked book 2, then felt no need to continue with full credits. Once this omnibus was available, giving 4 and a half books (and 51 hrs) for 1 credit, I finished the series and enjoyed book 3, got through book 4, and had fun with novella 4.5.

Entertaining to a point

Entertaining but a little repetitive. The narration was good though. As I had purchased the box set I had to muzzle the feminist inside me as the main character (and perhaps author) struggled with her internalised misogyny.
