Publisher's Summary

She may be a Mississippi belle, but Sarah Booth Delaney is no pampered daddy’s girl. Unwed and over thirty, Sarah has her own set of problems - like coping with regular hauntings by her great-great-grandmother’s nanny, a busybody of a ghost who’s set on marrying her off to the first suitor who comes calling. But when an old friend is in trouble, Sarah Booth doesn’t hesitate to get involved. Eulalee McBride has confessed to murdering her husband...and she wants Sarah to dig up the dirt on the violent scalawag to prove he got what he deserved.

Sarah Booth suspects that her friend is lying through her pearly whites...but why? There’s certainly no lack of suspects in Zinnia, Mississippi, including Bud Lynch, a horse trainer who arouses killer lust in the town’s women. As Sarah Booth begins to put together the pieces of the case, a killer is preparing to strike again. And this time it could send one late-blooming southern sleuth into an early grave.

Southern Charm with LOL Antics

I love all these characters and the Daddy's girls references are so point on since I was raised in Mississippi. It's fun characters, laughing out loud lines and a ghost best friend entangled in a mystery plot. Best friends and their dogs . I'm downloading book Crossed Bones next. I need an escape with laughs for my commute everyday.

HOLD ON TO YOUR SEAT.

CAROLYN HAINES HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB IN WEAVING A CONVOLUTED MYSTERY ABOUT MURDER AND PURE BREED HORSE RAISING. AT FIRST, I WAS NOT SURE ABOUT LIKING THIS SLOW STARTING STORY, BUT AS THE MINUTES CLIPPED PAST, SO DID THE NIGHT. I JUST COULD NOT STOP AS THE ACTION ONCE IT STARTS IS CONSTANT. WELL WORTH THE CREDIT. YOU WILL ENJOY THE STORY, I PROMISE.

Love a great mystery!

I loved this series! This is the 3rd book I have ready and they all have kept me guessing till the end. Sara Booths is such a riot and always bulldoging her way into everyone's business to get the case solved. I love her ghost Aunt, Timmy and CeCe. So much fun
