Next Plz

My only complaint is that I wish we got a little more plot progression. It is not a pace issue. I just feel like it took ages for this book to come out, and I finished it in sub 24hrs.

edit: LOL I just looked up when the last came out...I am an impatient shit. It has only been a couple months.

Romance ruins an otherwise good story

I really enjoyed the first book of the series. It started with a strong, pragmatic MC that showed a high level of competency. Book 2 introduced a romance that was way too overdone, but the rest of the plot was pretty engaging, so I stuck it out. Book 3 seems to have dropped the plot elements and focuses on the romance mostly. The MC went from pragmatic and competent to overly clingy, whiney, and borderline non-functional due to this relationship. The story hints that the system is to blame, but I have to drop the story before that gets fleshed out because I could no longer stand it. Feels like a complete bait and switch from the original MC I liked. I should add that I typically enjoy romance in progression fantasy and consider it a selling point, but it's so poorly done here that I have to drop the series. It's bad when every time Messy is in danger, I hope the story kills her off so we get back to the MC being normal.

Melodramatic With Some Plot

I honestly struggled to finish this one as the author spent chapter after chapter just focused on Anna whining and complaining and being wildly melodramatic about her relationship. I was rolling my eyes and skipping sections as they repeated the same arguments and emotional beats over and over.

It took ages for the plot to get going, and even then it was a little start and stop as we kept revisiting the relationship stuff.

I wanted action fantasy and got a melodramatic romantasy wearing a mask. Not sure I'll pick up the next one.

Decently written and well performed though.
