Publisher's Summary
The third part of the laugh-out-loud sci-fi adventure series, from the author critics are calling "the new Douglas Adams."
Cal Carver, petty-criminal turned space adventurer, is on a suicide mission - and he really hates suicide missions. But this time it's to save his best buddy, Splurt, who has been taken prisoner by the elderly assassin, Lady Vajazzle, and the evil Zertex corporation.
When they discover that the ship carrying Splurt never made it to Zertex, their search leads them through a wormhole to a mysterious planet unlike any they have seen before. Will they survive this strange new world and finally find their friend? And, more importantly, does he even want to be found?
Packed with gladiator battles, angry bees, a big thing blowing up, and the return of the galaxy's oldest assassin, Space Team: The Search for Splurt, is the rip-roaring conclusion to the first Space Team trilogy.

Loved it. It's space opera and humor.
Second time listening to it. Barry delivers space opera with a kick to the ballocks while Phil is; hands down, one of the best performers to grace Audible. And Im saying this as audio book fan that was listening to audiobooks before Audible was a thing.
While waiting for more Barry J. Hutchison, I found more Phil Thron. Outstanding job to both of you. Keep up the exceptional work. Now if you'll excuse, I need to re-listen to the next book. I have never re-listened to a book before this series.

Great!
It was laugh out loud funny. The characters where dynamic and different from each other. The dialogue is very believable. The narrator is a very very good too! He brings the characters to life. Please Mr. Hutchinson write faster, I can't wait for the next book to come out.
I usually don't try books that are not rated by at least 500 people. This book totally changed my mind. Can't judge a book by how many people rated it. Great recommendation Audible.

Cal Carver has done it again with this latest iteration in the series! He (and his friends) continued to bungle their way through, with humor, grit, and grand incompetence in so many ways.
This is perhaps the best in the series balancing action, story driven emotional impact, and humor throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed it from page 1 through the very end.
I don't know where the series is going, but I sincerely hope the author keeps moving forward with it.

Lot of "what's his name"
Would you listen to Space Team: The Search for Splurt again? Why?
Humor mostly. Maybe a bit repetitive, but funny anyway.
What other book might you compare Space Team: The Search for Splurt to and why?
Not a book, a movie - "Galaxy Quest". Some characters do not know what to do, some even do not have names - like crewmember nr 5 or Zortex Guy 1.
What does Phil Thron bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He is really good with putting different voices to characters. Some dramatizations have less variety than this one narrator performance.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not that kind of book.
Any additional comments?
Characters are still very 2D (as in previous books in the series). Author attempts to add some depth to main character by memories of lost family, but it just doesn't work well. Other than this it is a fun and easy book.

Might be my fave so far...
Great SpaceFiction series... Especially if you love puns, bad jokes, and shiz hitting the fonkin' fan every time you turn around... Yeah, silly, juvenile at times, and light on science, but nonetheless thoroughly enjoyable, and lol funny from beginning to end... Think this is my fave bc some really nice deeper content... Friendship, teamwork, and never leaving any, umm, space entity behind... Some finely done emotional moments amongst the high-jinx... As a tease, there's an addition to the team that'll fit right in, given its, errr... ummm... odd nature;). Worth every penny!

Great fun story
An enjoyable addition to the story, with Cal and Co attempting to overcome some familiar enemies and some new ones to get splurt back. The creation of a predatory planet where everything wants to kill you or eat you helps to maintain the sense of threat and relentless danger for our heroes, and some of the messages around working together to overcome the real enemy are well done and avoid getting too cheesy. But the whole story is very nearly derailed by the narrator's inability to do even a spurious Aussie accent. When a story line needs to provide cover for a narrator's difficulty with an accent, by describing a character as "nearly having" an Aussie accent, my advice to the author or the performer would be to step away from the accent or change it to one that the narrator can do. Apart from this minor, but for pretty grating issue, this was a great story and another terrific "space" adventure.

If guardians of the galaxy we’re less competent
The title of the review sums it up. You’ve got a crew of misfits who bumble around the galaxy trying to stay one step ahead of trouble and still somehow falling deep into it.
They’re a ruder, cruder and less competent band of reluctant heroes and yet that makes them incredibly endearing.

While this is the same funny great characters of the previous books I felt it was let down (for me) in the middle by the “Mad Max” feel to it. The ending was great though and I will grab the next one as soon as it comes out on Audible! 😉

BEST SPACE SERIES EVER
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely and I do! Funniest space adventure I have come across! Great story, great characters
What did you like best about this story?
What I love about Space Team is that each book is better than the last, where normally books tend to have a diminishing return factor. Other books tend to repeat themselves alot, having there heroes going over the same thing in slightly different ways but the Space Team books feel fresh each time, with brand new different experiences for the characters in each one.
What does Phil Thron bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I really want to read the next books that are already on Amazon as ebooks BUT Phil Thron does such an amazing job at narrating these books that I will have to wait for the next audible release.......damnit!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yep

Love Space Team
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I absolutely would recommend this. It's fun, funny and full of adventure!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Space Team: The Search for Splurt?
Cal and the space squirrels - dead and alive :)
Have you listened to any of Phil Thron’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have listen to Phil Thron in a previous Space Team book and he does a great job
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Lots of parts moved me to chuckle out load and garner strange looks from my family
Any additional comments?
Love Space Team
