Publisher's summary

I love love.

I believe that everyone is destined to find their one true love, their happily ever after. That’s why I run a relationship advice column to help those who need a little guidance. Granted, I’m by no means an expert, but it is my favorite subject, and I’ve spent plenty of years studying it as I’ve watched others fall in love.

I know my true love is out there, just waiting for me to find them. In the meantime, I’m enjoying my life, running a fun little coffee shop in Whiskey Mountain, and chasing around a panty-eating turtle—don’t ask.

But all of that comes to a screeching halt when a cup of tall, dark, and grumpy comes to town. All of the women are obsessed with the sexy new stranger, and I can’t deny I haven’t noticed how attractive he is. But when you add in his gruff exterior and the way he rejects my recommendations every time he orders his coffee black, I can’t seem to think straight when he’s around.

Owen is the complete opposite of me. I love love, he wants nothing to do with it. I’m young and carefree, he’s older and more rigid. I like flavored coffee, he likes the bitterness of it plain. We’re so different that it feels like we have absolutely nothing in common. But when he starts to drop his wall and let me in, that makes me question everything I thought I knew about him.

At the end of the day, he’s made it clear that love is not in the cards for him. I know that I should walk away and keep looking for someone who wants what I want, but there’s a chemistry between us that I’m curious to explore. Helping people find love has always been what I’ve done best, but this time, I might’ve finally met my match.

Loved it!

I really like me this story. The heroine was a strong young female who had a great head on her shoulders so there were no cringy moments when you didn’t like the decisions she made or the things she did! The hero was also a gentleman in every sense but also not a pushover!

The narrator was great but I wish they had a male narrator do the male part… my only “complaint” and really that didn’t bother me too much…

Funny, emotional, feel good listen

This book has all the best steamy romcom qualities: hilarious pets and their shenanigans, the best secondhand embarrassment moments, witty banter, excellent side characters, steamy times, and emotional depth.
This was an excellent quick listen.

Small town love!

Owen has started to frequent a local coffee shop run by Maggie while he is in the small town of Whiskey Mountain on a work assignment. Owen orders the same drink every day and Maggie always tries to get him to try something new. Little does everyone know, Maggie is the something new that Owen needs! This is a cute story of Owen opening up his heart again after the way his last relationship ended, and Maggie waiting for the love she deserves.

Something to Talk About is a novella, but don't let that make you think you're missing out on anything. This book has lots of banter and lots of chemistry. Add in some small town drama and gossip, and some pets with their own wild personalities, and you've got this great series starter!

This audiobook was narrated by Jaime Carnucci. It isn't her first audio I've listened to, but she is newer to the industry and I'm happy she's getting out there more because I enjoy listening to her!

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You're looking for a small town, age gap, opposites attract that's a quick and fulfilling read!

Couldn't love this book more!

This book was so much fun to listen to I can't stop talking about it! Why would you want to when you can relive Maggie's horror of being hit in the face with a door then having her spicy audio book going off in front of an hot guy! Aka Owen the new guy who keeps to himself. Plus who wouldn't want to read a book with a talking parrot that makes you laugh with every word! Not to mention the turtle that loves to eat every pair of panties he can find!
At first glance Owen and Maggie seem like they wouldn't be a good fit. She is so much younger and is a romantic at heart. Owen is only in town temporarily and has no desire to give his heart to anyone. Samantha does a fantastic job of making me laugh while falling for this great couple.

So good!

Something to Talk About is the first book in the Whiskey Mountain series. This book has it all...small town romance, age gap, smexy times. Leroy the turtle and Pablo the talking bird were so funny! I usually shy away from stories with "exotic pets", but the author really did a great job. Maggie runs a coffee shop and blogs on the side with relationship advice and is in LOVE with love. Owen is a real estate guru from NYC and avoids commitment of any kind. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. When her smutty audiobook goes off in public in front of Owen, I had to laugh because this has happened to me MORE than once...smh. This one may be short in length, but not in content. Love these Whiskey Mountain folks and can't wait for Ramona's story!

The narrator is new to me. Jaime Carnucci did a great job with all the voices for the characters. Even Pablo!

A beautiful story!

Maggie and Owen were so cute! I loved this story and how easily it flowed. I was not 100% with the narrator but I am happy that I got to listen to this story and appreciate it.

Maggie and Owens story was about the start of something new. It was their story about the journey to giving something new a try. Though the steam was light I still really enjoyed their story. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series!

Fun and sweet small town romance!

The first book the Whiskey Mountain series is short, sweet, and so much fun. I enjoyed Maggie and Owens story so much. Small town, age gap, opposites attract, a foul mouthed parrot, and a panty stealing turtle. Seriously what more could you need in a book. I am already so excited for the next two in this series!

Hilarious pets, a mishap with a door, grumpy hero

This book is a 4.5 for me; it starts with a mishap with a door and a naughty audio book playing out loud for the new guy. He is older and doesn't believe in love; she is young, inexperience, and obsessed with love. There is a parrot with a filthy mouth and a turtle who has an affinity for eating panties.

The narrator does a great job of pulling you into the dialogue, but her portrayal of Owen was sometimes a bit off. Overall, this was an enjoyable listen.
