When my boyfriend asked me to go on a weekend getaway to his family’s cabin, I pictured evenings cuddled on the couch by the fireplace and candlelit dinners. Time for us to reconnect, and if I was picking up on all of his mixed signals, maybe he was going to propose.

Unfortunately, it seemed that my romantic weekend was doomed from the start. When we arrived, we were greeted by his parents, who just so happened to hate me. Nothing I did was good enough, and they made sure I knew it.

Everyone has a breaking point, and unfortunately, I reached mine pretty quickly. I didn’t think before I stole my boyfriend’s SUV and made a run for it. But of course, with my luck, I didn’t get far.

The sexy stranger who found me didn’t think I was very amusing as I called him a "lumbersnack" and commented about how I wanted to eat him like a gingerbread man. But he pulled me out of the car and rescued me anyway.

Being stranded with someone I didn’t know should have been more unnerving, but it wasn’t. He made me feel comfortable, and neither of us could ignore the spark that ignited so quickly between us.

But like all good things, that too came to an end when the storm passed, and the roads were cleared.

Neither of us expected to meet under the circumstances we did, but we also didn’t talk about what would happen next. We had been living in a dreamland, but now it was time to wake up and face reality. The only problem was that we both had different visions of what that looked like.

Hallmark christmas with the spice you know I love.

Holly is a hot mess dating the most confusing man ever, Henry. After a load of chaos in front of his parents who hate her she leaves, crashes his suv, and is rescued by a Lumbersnack named Blake.
Winter storm plus injuries needing rest mean he gets to become her caretaker.
The rest is pretty much a given but it's such a cute little novella and I enjoyed it.

Angel found!

Short but sweet story, in the end she found her Angel, loved that it ended on Christmas Day.

Steamy

This little novella I did not expect to be as steamy, as it was very very nice surprise.

This is such a great holiday novella! Snowed in, grumpy lumber snack, and a girl trying to escape an ex. It has all the holiday charm and heat you could want!! Definitely a fantastic holiday listen!

Holiday Hijinks is a quick, little, holiday-themed novella. Holly is with her longterm boyfriend and his family at a remote cabin when she overhears him talking about breaking up with her. She takes his SUV, leaves, but then promptly crashes it due to the weather. Luckily, Blake is there to rescue her.

The connection between Blake and Holly was instant, and their chemistry was electric. As this was a novella length, I understand that it is hard to really develop the progression of their relationship. But taking it in as it was, Holiday Hijinks was still a sweet and fun novella. A bit of comedy of errors at the beginning, but it showed a great comparison between the ex-boyfriend Henry and the swoony hero Blake, it was a no brainer who was the better choice.

A nice use of the “forced proximity” trope and perfect for the season.

Holiday Hijinks By Samantha Baca

Another cute sweet holiday romance. This author gives us great Holiday romances that fill your heart with the holiday spirit and love. Well that is after you want to punch some people like Henry and his parents. I really disliked them all and really wanted to punch them all three. They were complete jerks and needed to get slapped. I was happy that Holly got in that accident and was saved by Blake and Luna. It was a fast paced story and very steamy but I loved every second of it. Definitely recommend. I enjoyed listening to this book and following along reading at the same time. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Lumbersnack 😍

This has to be one of my favorite holiday reads! I love how we saw Holly grow and I love how we saw Blake's soft side. Henry, her ex boyfriend, is a royal douche, and his parents are far worse. Good riddance to them! In this novella, we finally have an age gap that's actually an age gap! I'm tired of people saying five or six years is an age gap… like give me something that's 10+ and I'll agree with you haha.

Mel Heflin is a new to me narrator and Ienjoyed her take on this book. Normally it takes me a bit to get used to a new narrator, but I didn't have that problem here.

Without giving away too much, Holly overhears a conversation between Henry and his parents and she ends up leaving him on the spot. Later that day, she finds Blake, who ends up taking her in due to the storm coming since there's no way she is getting back to LA. When Holly eventually heads back to LA, will she ever see Blake again?

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You like rough-looking lumbersnacks who are a soft, cuddly teddy bear inside. 

Fun, Christmas-y Story!

Holly wasn't having a very good time with her boyfriend (and his parents). From a judgmental mom, to an absentee boyfriend, she decides to take a hike. By take a hike, I mean take her boyfriend's SUV and try to drive back home. En route, she ends up hitting a tree and a helpful lumberjack comes to help her out.
It's a quick story with a fast-burn romance with insta-love elements that work with the story. Holly and Henry were wonderful together, from their chemistry to their interactions. There's tons of Christmas fun and sweet memories made in this story. It's good for a holiday listen or any other time of year!

The narrator was good! I liked how she did the different voices and brought the characters to life. I listened at 1.15x speed.

So much fun to read!

Join Holly and her boyfriend Henry on a fun weekend getaway (I mean disaster) in a remote cabin in the snow. She thought she was going to get a ring, instead she overhead about her inevitable break up. After that she had to get away and that meant taking the ex boyfriend's SUV! She then ends up smashing into a tree and has to be rescued by a really handsome "lumbersnack" who nurses her back to health. Holly knows she doesn't have a choice on staying in Blake's small cabin. She also knows she shouldn't be having these thoughts about a stranger. They question is what will they do when the snow goes away?

Fun holiday listen

Kinda slow start, just because she doesn't meet her love interest for quite a ways into the book. Poor Holly at the beginning. That family is terrible! So happy when she gets away from them. Fun and sweet story like you usual get from Samantha Baca! The narration was great and flowed well.
