How steamy is it? Seductive

Publisher's Summary

A phone call in the middle of the night forces Detective Gabriel Wyatt out of his warm bed and into the frigid night to identify the body of a murdered man whose wallet contains Gabe’s business card instead of an ID. That night sets off a chain of events that chills Gabe to his bones when it appears the killer has set his eyes on a new target: Josh Roman.

Josh comes face-to-face with a painful reminder of his past just when he’s ready to acknowledge that his feelings for Gabe go way beyond liking the man. How can he trust that his feelings for Gabe are right when before, he’d always been so wrong?

Will Josh and Gabe finally acknowledge that what they have is something to live for, or will they allow danger and doubts to destroy their chance at something amazing?

Something to Dye For is audiobook two in the Curl Up and Dye Mysteries series. These audiobooks are made to be listened to in order. They contain sexually explicit material and are intended for adults 18 and older.

Finally!!!!

I have been waiting for this series to continue in audiobook format for what feels like years!! (Probably just a little bit less than that) Josh and Gabe are such wonderful characters and they truly do develop and evolve as their relationship continues. I was so sad when the Road to Blissville series continued to release because it is sort of like watching a tv series minus the main couple’s romantic plot line . Joel Leslie is wonderful as always. I read the series before I downloaded the first book and I am so happy that series is finally releasing again.

The second book feels like the real start of Josh’s and Gabe's relationship. Although that word is banned through half of the book. It is really enjoyable to see them have amazing sexy times, do cute and romantic activities, (meet the parents, say I love you, and even have nicknames that lack snark for each other) all in the midst of yet another mystery. Family and friends continue to be an amazing center for this series and I really recommend listening/reading beyond this book because the characters just keep getting better.

Big Daddy's Home

The Curl Up and Dye series isn’t new to me. I started to read it a few years ago. The first couple of books were… well, flawed. Not in terms of content, but the editing left a little to be desired. But I fell for Josh and Gabe and not to forget Savage. So I kept with the series and now I might just be a fan for life.

It’s in the middle of the night when Gabe gets a call out to a murder scene, but he wasn’t called strictly as a detective. Not only was it out of his jurisdiction, but the victim was found carrying Gabe’s business card in his wallet. Not long after that threatening notes and “gifts” starts arriving at the station, in Josh’s home and even to the local news room. As if that wasn’t enough ghosts from Josh’s past arrives and dregs up painful memories and feelings.

I’ve loved going back to the beginning with these guys, to be reminded of where it all began, the struggles, fears, watching them fall in love all over again. To see Josh starting to trust Gabe, taking a leap into a relationship. I love how they love each other, took care of each other – meeting the family. We really see them move forward.

The mystery is not resolved in this book and that part kind of ends on a cliffhanger. For those of you (me included) that like to have answers when the book ends, this might just make you a little nuts, especially if you wait for the next audiobook to be produced and released.

It’s no surprise that Joel Leslie did a fantastic job narrating this story. The voices, accents, pacing and feels is there just like we’ve all come to expect. I do wish he’d really go nuts with Savage’s voice, but alas you can’t get everything. I do love his voice for Josh. It’s spot on and fits with his character. It has the sass, the flair and impersonates everything that makes Josh, Josh.

This is a series that definitely should be enjoyed in audio, and if you haven’t already, go back and start at the beginning because you don’t want to miss a single second of Gabe and Josh.

Dying for the next installment

This story is better than most. It's not just your run of the mill MM romance. I listen to a lot of MM. Some are merely enjoyable but they use the same tropes, same characters, same plot twists over and over again. Basically they are just plot filler between sex scenes. This story actually has some substance to it. The first book in this series was a little flat from the crime perspective but I do like books where the protagonists don't just fall in love over night. This installment was an improvement on that. The progression of Josh's and Gabe's relationship is fun, interesting and yes suitably steamy and it's nicely balanced out with some who dunnit? crime. Normally I can see a plot twists coming a mile away but this book left me going: Wait! WHAT? and I was seriously dismayed to find the next book not yet available. 🤨
If you like an MM book that's a little different from the most give this book a go.
Joel as ever is perfection. So Always full marks there.

wonderful continuation of Gabe & Josh

I am really enjoying this series, as I have also enjoyed the Road to Blissville series. Gabe and Josh continue to figure out their relationship and worry about moving too fast too soon, at least is Josh's mind that is. I love seeing their relationship blossom and while I hate cliffhangers, I do like that you can see their relationship grow in these books rather than everything coming together in one book. so...In this series, I am enjoying the growth of them, I want to scream at the ending of this because I have so many unanswered questions. I feel like they were lead on the wrong track in this book with their investigations. If so, I hope that it is cleared up soon. AND that the next book is out on audio soon. Joel Leslie really enhances how good this story is with his perfect narration and I feel that I would be missing out a lot if I read instead of listened to the audiobook.

Ahhhhh love me some Josh and Gabe!

I LOVE this little cosy mystery series from Aimee Nicole Walker! Gabe and Josh are just total relationship goals, and what I love about this one especially is that they really are just completely in love with each other, open to their "something" being a real relationship, and start blending their lives together. Josh has sass to spare, and Gabe is an out and proud detective and I just love that about both of them - neither are hiding who they are, and they're just perfect together.

Fans of small-town mystery, plenty of humor and snark, and friends that are family will enjoy this series from this author!

I need more Josh and Gabe!

The narration just makes this better. Joel Leslie is absolutely sublime with great character voices, and impressive emotional range, terrific timing and pacing. Things that annoyed me when reading fell away completely when listening. That's just how good Joel Leslie is.

There's something about the "Curl Up and Dye Mysteries" series that pulls me in like a tractor beam. I love the supporting characters and seeing Josh and Gabe reach their full relationship potential is addicting.

Note that "Something to Dye For" ends with another mild cliffhanger ending that sets up the next book "Dyed and Gone to Heaven". Hopefully book 3 will be recorded and released soon.

Fantastic

This is another entertaining and nuanced performance from Joel Leslie, and a story that will leave you wanting the next immediately. Josh and Gabe’s story continues in this second installment of the Curl Up and Dye series. It is fun, sexy, and sweet, with a good dose of mystery and more of the realities of small-town life in Blissville. The Nate Turner case is getting more interesting by the chapter, and even though I’ve read these books several times, I am still eagerly awaiting the rest of the series to be released in audio. Joel Leslie nails the personalities of the two MCs in his portrayal of them - I don’t think anyone else could have brought Josh and Gabe and the rest of this cast of characters to life in such an all-around successful and endearing way. All the stars!

Great Fun!

A great story line with colourful and fun characters. Narrator voiced the individual characters perfectly. I can’t wait for the next one to be available on audio but I have already bought the rest of the series to read on my Kindle!!
