Snoozer shorts in ancient times

There are six shorts featuring the Bombay family from 1256 BC to 1916. Each is between 20 and 45 minutes, which was not enough time to make me hate the target or love the Bombay assassin.
Because of the ancient setting, these shorts are also missing the beloved pop-culture quotes from today’s best fictional killers, further diminishing the fun. Finally, it felt like a lot of the comedy was less about laughing with the Bombays and more about laughing at everyone’s gullibility.
Of the short story collections currently published, this was my least favorite.
