Alex faces the consequences of her choices on a ship full of strangers. Forced to confront a civilization built on the regulation of her kind, she has to learn and adapt to situations she never imagined. Some see her as the key to breaking a decades-old stalemate, others as a threat that will ignite the fires of war once more.

But all Alex wants is her sister and NAI companion back.

Meanwhile, Starlight Revolution must manage the aftermath as best they can to rebuild, repurposing available resources while reaffirming their status as a budding system power fit to endure both military and corporate interests. And hopefully keep their status as possessors and producers of regulated, mostly illegal technologies from getting too many people killed or worse… Hope and trust. The foundation of all enterprise. No more daunting a task than to rise again, foundation cracked.

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre ShipCore 3.0

Con calificación alta para:

The Reviews Suggest That While The Overall Story And Foundations Are Engaging And Complex, The Execution In This Particular Book Suffers From A Scattered Plot, Weak Character Development, Excessive Focus On Side Plots, And Contrived Plot Elements Like Forced Lgbtq Themes. Many Reviewers Felt The Main Character's Agency And Capabilities Were Diminished, And The Ending Left Too Many Unresolved Cliffhangers. However, Some Praised The Meaningful Foundations Laid For Future Stories In The Series.

Almost Lost Me

Overall this is a good continuation. However, there is a lot more jumping around between POVs in this book, some of which I found myself just not caring about. I mainly wanted to follow Alex and her developing situation, but it seemed like every time that plot started to gain momentum the narrative cut away to one of the side plots and I just felt frustrated.

I'm also not fond of how Alex has developed as a character. She started the series off as a capable of naive character, quick to adapt and learn. This book in particular seemed to strip away a lot of her capabilities, and not just because of her situation. She seemed way more passive and unwilling to step up. It really frustrated me toward the end when virtually all of her agency was removed and she became a passenger in someone else's story, just going along while someone else made the big decisions and took action.

I really hope things improve going forward.

Great pacing and characters

This has become one of my favorite series. Amazing story and great performance by the narrator. Honestly I’ll be buying every book in this series

Another great ShipCore installment.

I very much enjoyed the continuation of Alex’s adventures. The narrator is fantastic and this book really explores a lot of interesting situations.

I didn’t love the split story format as much (two parallel stories), but it does let us see the now spread out characters and see their antics.

Looking forward to 4.0!!!

This is an excellent story that just keeps getting better!

I've been following this story for quite a while now. I found the first book to be charming and engaging. The second had more action and the story was growing more complex.
This third volume improves on all the points and I cannot wait for the next volume.

An interesting ride that doesn't reach a destination

This one started a bit slow. The plot is widening and this book, while revealing a lot more about NAIs, feels like the first half of a much longer book. I also feel the author is skirting the edge of credibility in this one with one of the side plots. I can accept very unlikely events setting up the start of the series, but adding in another seems like too much to maintain suspension of disbelief.
I felt that this book also lost me a bit with so many things moving around and coming and going on the technology side. I'm mainly feeling invested in the main character and the plight of the people in the two original systems from the first two books, This one largely ends in a cliff hanger across the board. So much needs to be resolved, and there's a lot of uncertainty as to the status of the external threats at the end. I hope the next book consolidates the situation a bit more.

Great continuation, slow start.

Great story overall and ability to set meaningful foundations for future stories. It could have just been my mood while listening but the first 30 or so chapters while foundational and important felt like a drag somewhat. If you care about the story and want full context it’s still a great listen even early on but it’s more slice of life until things start to really get interesting.

Towards Advancing

Much happened throughout that changed up how the MC could operate herself and how she could interact on a political and military scale. Glad to see we had less tragedies of main crew this time, but everyone did have at least one traumatic battle experience by the end of it.

Oh no!

Well there it is, LGBTQ starting in chaper 48, it never fails anymore, like somehow it is a requirement in modern Science Fiction writing to start putting it in the story line.
Or, maybe I'm not an adult, and start putting my hands over my ears. But come off it, is it really necessary?
I read Science fiction as like a board game of moving pieces using advanced concepts and technology. Reading this is like a board game covered in something sticky or slimy.
Yuck...
if I wanted to read about the interaction of lips and tongues, and anything else I would read shut with abandon.
Was or is it really necessary for the story line? Rule of thumb is that if it is not, then don't put it in.
Young minds may get ahold of this and very off in a direction that is not wholesome.
if that is the point, then shame.
I'm 66...yes, older than most of you probably, and this is not fun, it's manipulative.
A writer should never do that unless there is a forward warning, and this storyline has none.
So I am very disapointed...
And know this, you don't know better than me...

Hated it.

The author should be ashamed of ruining a good series. The first 12 hours is just depression filler, and whining with nothing happening.
It was constant interrupting in every chapter to multiple views it was like watching a tv show then at every climax going to commercial and changing the channel to start a new show then going back when that show got good. Total immersion break and UTTERLY annoying. At the 8 hour mark it starts to just do it every chapter but it was still bad.

Then when the book DOES have stuff start it turn into high school drama of who like who and who kissed who. It's like 13 year lesbian fan service thrown in to make it spicy. WHEN IT doesn't need it. The character is 1 year old and as the emotional maturity of a child. I DO NOT NEED to hear how this emotionally stunted child is making out with girls. It's just wrong. Save any lustful stuff for when she is mentally matured.

So no. This book was horrible. First two were amazing but this one is filler fan service ADHD writing garbage fire.

Perhaps it was the easy manipulated and go with what ever she is told nature of the MC that the author thought would make a good story but it's much better with her sister there to balance her and give direction.

I am uncertain if I'll give the next book a chance. It was that bad.
