Romance novel Thriller

This was a romance thriller. I started fast forwarding during the many discussions about “our” relationship. The plot is over the top and exciting. Although the woman are depicted as strong and independent, there is way to much macho “I’ve got to protect you” BS. The men obviously don’t really believe in the women’s ability to take care of themselves.

Disappointing

I love Iris Johansson books! I usually can’t wait to read her latest, but this one seemed to drag. Not only was it slow, but the emotions of the characters were a little “sappy.” I wasn’t thrilled with the narrator, either. She dropped her voice so low sometimes I was constantly turning the volume up, and down. I finished it, but, would not recommend it. Not her usual best.

Worst book I've listened to in a very long time

So the good news is that the narrator was awesome...doing all the various accents. But the story, OMG!! Totally implausible. Ridiculous. The whole idea that someone commits heinous crimes....because they're a twin.....(sorry trying not to reveal any spoilers). Beyond preposterous. And so much "filler"....a teen pining for an older man - that thread went on for way too long and at the most inconvenient times....(don't want to give anything away). My wife and I listened to this on a long road trip and getting through it was TORTURE. We were actually relieved when it was over....

Too sappy

I have been a fan of the Eve Duncan series but this storyline was simply sappy. The narrator was very good, it was just poor writing this time. The dialogue dragged and was simplistic and I’m sorry, but what 18 year old talks like they have the feelings and maturity of someone that’s 40? I kept listening with hopes of improvement but it never came. Hope the next one is better.

Just ok

An ok book, not great. I have loved all of Iris Johansen's books, but this fell short in my opinion.

Very Best book in the series

This book was filled with so much emotion. The narrator was amazing as always. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Great plot BUT....

I just could not buy in to her son Michael’s role and especially the voice that betrayed him. It made the kid too weird and un-believable. Loved Eve and Joe’s exchange. A nice “twist” on some of the character development. Michael and the storyline where Eve became the target needed a bit more work
