This book started very slow for me then picked up about 1/2 way through. I enjoyed the world that the author has created, I loved the Marie Antoinette past and I loved that they were not just shifters! The love story fell a little flat for me, I think I may have just needed to feel a little more of a connection between the characters. I also really liked the twist with Jenna's place in their world.
With that said, I actually found this book a little dull but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it. I may try book 2 to see if it picks up because I did like the direction it was heading.

The narration for me was meh. I love Justine Eyre but I feel like she belongs in books like Jane Austen, not YA/NA which she is cast in a lot. She just sounds to proper and older to be these characters.

What did you love best about Shadow's Edge?

I'm not usually into the "paranomal" reading but the narrator voice captivated me in an instant and I had to know what the story was about. The lovely voice of Leander, Morgan and Christian. This is a must read and I cant wait for the second book... I'm absolutely thrilled for the continuation

The transformation of Jenna into panther after decovering her father's grave

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She kept me intrigued about what would happen next I love the enuncation of the different characters the french, the brazilian and my favorite Leander

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Leander busting into the room to save Jenna and Daria from the clutches of the enemies

Please hurry with the release of the second book I am very excited to see what happens between Leander and Jenna, of course Morgan, Christian and how is Daria after her traumatic experience

Wow... great shifter book...

This was a great shifter story. I love the fact that the half-shifter becomes queen. I like the whole idea of the story. I simply love shifter books... This one was good one. I like the angst between the two main characters, and the smex was also good. There wasn't much, but plenty of angst... maybe 3 scenes I think... but they were good and nicely place throughout the story. I am excited to read book 2.

Great Narration, Justine Eyre is an awesome narrator... Her male voices are great.

Good credit... I think for the price and the story, a buy isn't necessary... waiting for your credit or a sale... is a good idea on this one.

Gave me "Justine Ear"

There is a point sometimes, when listening to Justine Eyre, when her voice begins to become painful to listen to. There is the growl and emotive whiny tinge at the end of every sentence that one expects, but with some books it's so pronounced that it sounds like sub-vocal claws on a chalk board, and that completely detracts from the story.

And when you get to that point, it's over.

I really enjoyed reading this series on my kindle, and when I saw that I could buy this book for $1.99, I took a chance. Well, it's been so painful I've been listening to it for 15 minutes at a time, or less.

I wish I had my $2 back.

Interesting storyline, boring narrator

Would you try another book from J. T. Geissinger and/or Justine Eyre?

I have already started reading Book 2 of this series because it is narrated by one of my favorites, Angela Dawe. I enjoy her voice alot more. I loved the storyline in Shadow's Edge and the details that were added to every description. J.T. helped the reader imagine this breathtaking world and envision yourself within each character.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. T. Geissinger? Why or why not?

I am already reading Book 2.

How could the performance have been better?

Justine reads at a very slow pace. She drags out every word until it is excruiating painful to listen to another word.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Nothing, I think the romance between the hero and the heroine is perfect. It's unbalanced, it's give and take, it's angst, it just perfect.

Great Poetry Writing

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, Great poetry style writing, but this book literally could be taken from the Shana Abe Drakon series. So instead of Dragons we have panthers, but both are set in England, both have factions scattered around the world, both are in hiding for the colony's protection, and both deal with the premise of bringing someone back to the fold. For as well written as it was I wished the story was not so similar. Don't get me wrong I will most likely purchase her next book because she was a good writer, but I will just like to read something with less similarities from another author.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

Justine Eyre is in a class of her own. I love her style or reading.

Could you see Shadow's Edge being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not really, since it seem so familar.

Writer is too wordy

This was a bit too wordy for me. It's important to give clear descriptions but this author goes overboard to the point that it just becomes wordy and drawn out. Story line was good but nothing that hasn't been already done before in many other books. I doubt I will purchase the following books in the series.

Watch out for Jenna! # She is a Queen of a Woman!!

What did you love best about Shadow's Edge?

This is the start of a new series and one I'll possibly never forget. I had the smug attitude of the Alpha to the flippancy of Morgan, not to mention all the multitude of talants Jenna brought into the mix. I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR MOVE VOLUMES OF THIS SERIES TO COME OUT!!!!!!!!

What did you like best about this story?

The part I liked best about this story was where it initially started out with the tribe alpha, who was so full of hisself , discovering that this half-blood named Jenna had the power to reign him in. Not with just her mystical powers, but with her courage, her tenderness and her insatiable way of connecting with others.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Jenna discovered she was in love with the alpha.while floating in vapor form over the jungle.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When it was discovered that Jenna wasn't just the Alpha's mate, but her races queen. When she could close her eyes and tell where every member of her tribe were located!

Great promise – stupid heroine

I usually like this author, but had difficulty with this book. The storyline is fine but there are characters who don’t stay true to form and thus who do really stupid things. For example, one character has a solution to her problem clearly laid out for her but decides instead to do something completely detrimental to her future and the colony’s future for no understandable reason. The h was a major problem throughout the story. She is brand new to this world, a world and an H that is trying to take care of her, and all she does is throw things in their faces and act like she’s better than them—without bothering to listen to them, she disparages their world nonstop. Also, she, too, has a great solution to her problem and she absolutely ignores it in favor of being obtuse and self-centered. She does his Over and over again. Drove me crazy. Felt like the author thought she’d win points by slamming male-dominated societies so she came up with stereotyped figures and situations whether they fit the story or not.

Starting a Great New Series

If you like books similar to Christine Feehan & Sherrilyn Kenyon then you should like this author. I read others compare it to J.R. Ward's books but I didn't find it as dark.

The Ikati shape-shifters [panther] live in seclusion in England and have archaic laws about keeping the bloodline pure. It is a male dominated society which the women are not satisfied with...and who would be? I must admit I ranted to myself a little during the book about how the females of the clan were treated.

Leander, the Alpha of the Ikati, searches for & finds Jenna, a half-breed shifter to bring her back to their home/fortress to either keep her or kill her depending on whether she inherited the ability to shift. Jenna has been told all her life by her mother "they" would be coming for her & "If they ever find you ... run". However, her mother died before she could find out who "they" were.

When they find Jenna, she has no idea what she is and has grown tired of running so she makes her stand. Jenna's strong will vs. the Ikati Alpha's rules soon make for some interesting listening. I listened to that 11.5 hour book in one stretch because it kept my attention.

NOTE FOR BARGAIN HUNTERS: I used my AARP discount to purchase the entire series of books and did the whispersync with it for an additional $1.99 each. Great value for what looks to be an exciting series (based on the first book). I'm not sure how long the AARP discount will be available to AARP members. If you are under 50, get your parents to buy them.

Audio let the story down

Please dont do anymore English accents! From someone that is English it came across a little cringy. I wont be reading the next one. Shame as i love all her books but the audio really let this down.

Interesting Story - but read it for yourself.

A narrator with a strangled voice? Is this a deliberate choice in view of the dark material of the book? I found it impossible to follow the story for reasons of the deliberate drawl and throat purr. The story, however, was interesting.

Um... what?

I haven’t even listened to the first chapter of this audiobook yet but I just can’t because of the voice of the person reading it. It’s so distracting and really flat. The voice sounds like that of a Disney villain 😂

Captivating

I really enjoyed this book. Justine is one of my favourite narrators so will always look for book narrated by her, she gives the characters such depth it lifts them into my imagination.

Shadows edge

This is the first j t geissinger book I've listened to but it won't be the last, the lead character is a strong willed woman, when strange things start to happen in her life , she stands up for herself and gives them hell.
The narrated Justine Eyre is excellent , she gives a brilliant rendition of this book. Can't wait to get the next one...

Great story

I loved the story, the characters and pace of the book.. The only downside was the narrator... When she was doing a British accent it was terrible.. I was cringing at times but if u can ignore this, then it's a great book.
