Publisher's summary

Sevenfold Sword, Part IV includes books 7 and 8 of the series.

The quest of the Seven Swords will unmask treachery. It threatens to summon the malevolent New God...but other dark powers might seize the New God's throne.

Ridmark Arban is the Shield Knight, questing to stop the rise of the evil New God and to rescue his friends from the cruel dvargir slavers of Najaris. The sorceress Cathala, imprisoned within magical stone, holds the lore of the creator of the Seven Swords.

But dark powers are stirring in the Serpent Marshes, and Cathala has secrets of her own.

Secrets that might kill Ridmark and his friends.

And the slavers’ sinister master is far more powerful than a mere merchant, and his knowledge might destroy both the Shield Knight and the New God....

Still enjoying this series!

I'm still thoroughly enjoying this series: I love the author, narrator, and story lines. On to the next book. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be disappointed when there are no more, and I have to look for another series to start.

It's so hard to listen to Steven Brand…

Why can't he put the emphasis on the right words? It's maddening. Doesn't he read the book before he "reads" the book?
The story is just as predictable as always, but remains entertaining, somehow :)

Amazing Series

Outstanding romantic fantasy. Romantic as in freewill vs compulsion, in the vein of Victor Hugo. Fantasy of the pulp variety.

Gotten better

I think this story and the books are great, they just need a person to have the patience for the world to be built around the story and the story to be fleshed out, which I do like even if at times it slows down because of that. I will be looking forward to the next book in the series.

More of a good thing.

I've really been enjoying this series. It isn't groundbreaking, and I have a couple of gripes with it, but overall, it is solid. I really like these characters and find it easy to root for them in earnest.

I really want to applaud whomever decided to package these two at a time. This is a real service to the reader/listener/customer. This brings the length of each purchase up to one that i find really respectable. Otherwise it might feel a little underwhelming to spend those precious monthly credits on.

Slow, repetitive and anticlimactic

Works good as background noice when your working. If you stop listening for 15-30 minutes, chances are you haven't missed anything important that hasn't been said ten times before.

to much religion

Struggled with all the Catholicism. Made it more silly than it needed to be. Tell a story, don't preach.
