Publisher's summary

The ancient portals have been unlocked, restoring fast travel to Isle of Mythos. No longer the outsider, Chod enjoys his newfound acceptance as a hero and troll. New lands and adventures await with the promise of gold and glory. But every opportunity offers the chance of misfortune.

Several portals still remain closed, hiding dire threats behind their veils of dark energy. Enemies have disappeared into parts unknown, and rumors of the return of the greatest villain Mythos has ever known grow louder by the day. Chod has one goal - unite the heroes of Mythos. Fail, and he loses everything.

Liked it, but...

Great continuation of the story, but the Sacrifice ability is way underused. To have an ability that directly buffs stats and then be knocked around by higher-stat foes is problematic, but the MC throwing away the minions that fuel the ability in fights where they aren't even working as. minor distraction is just bad gameplay. That's fine if your MC is new to gaming and doesn't understand resource management, but in this case the MC is supposed to be an experienced, skilled, quasi-pro gamer, so it doesn't make sense, and those parts are frustrating to listen to

Worth the investment

Really enjoyed this story for the most part. One of the better offerings in this genre. Having a consistent narrator, with good vocal range, over the course of the three books really helps with character development and consistency, which I appreciate greatly. Overall, if you enjoy this genre, I would definitely recommend trying this series.

Stuck in his own head repeatedly

The Mc is always stuck in his own head but that’s the only flaw I can find with the series. The narrator does a decent job of playing the parts but his female voices need a little help.

All in all it has been an excellent series and I have already purchased the next book in the collection. Can’t wait to see how it goes.

#3 is a grand slam not a strike out!

This series just keeps on getting better and better!
I've been with Brooks since he released the first one and have not been disappointed yet. The story just keeps on getting bigger and better. Chod our big blue magic wielding troll is running with the big dogs, the king's and leaders of the island he was put on in the game. And they need to get ready for the big bad that the good guys had to shut down all the travel portals because of.
He's trying to get all the other heroes/prisoners on his side but they aren't in this situation because they are good guys.
Rowland and Martin get all the stars for this newest installment in the Sentenced to Troll story!
If you like fantasy and love LitRPG you need to get this in your library!

Chod go chod go chod

for this book chod go's out to find new allies to help in a battle that may come as some of the dark creatures spawn he has some fun battles with his friends as they dungeon dive take on hags an much more. I really liked john a new illusion enchanter they come across. at first the ground with john an chods friends are shacky but they bring him into the group. he was not in the book much but i like his addition to the team when he did battle with them. i hope he returns in the next book possible spoiler as it seems they will adventure on a new land

great third entry

Really enjoyed the book and looking forward to chapter 3. I was really missing my imp buddy for a lot of this one but we got to see development between Chod and Teran.

My only qualm is that I feel like some of the quests and story lines don't get totally buttoned up. Like did they find the dwarven brother in book 2? what happened with that quest? Wouldn't Chod have completed the quest for opening the portal in book 2 and won the barony and associated lands?

just a nitpick to an otherwise very good series.
