Publisher's Summary

Women long for deep and lasting friendships but often find them challenging to make. The private angst they feel regarding friendship often translates into their own insecurity and isolation. Christine Hoover offers women a fresh, biblical vision for friendship that allows for the messiness of our lives and the realities of our schedules. She shows women:

  • What's holding them back from developing satisfying friendships
  • How to make and deepen friendships
  • How to overcome insecurity, self-imposed isolation, and past hurts
  • How to embrace the people God has already placed in their lives as potential friends
  • How to revel in the beauty and joy of everyday friendship

With stories of real friendships and guidance drawn from Scripture, Hoover encourages women to intentionally and purposefully invest in one of the most rewarding relationships God has given us.

    "Convicting and encouraging"

This book challenged me in so many ways. It revealed a lot of areas I have sinned in my friendships and showed me a new perspective
It was well read and I love her Texas accent. There was a part where she shared about a friend dying of cancer recently and her voice cracked as she read. I'm sure that's not ideal for an audio book producer but I found it so refreshing, like I was listening to a real person.

"A honest look at doing friendship biblically"

There's a lot in the Christian media that tells us we should find perfect community at church & have that group of people who look just like you, are safe, don't really challenge you, but are overall supportive & fun to be around. You will not find this here. Christine really hits the friendships that get in to the rough things, encourage is to live biblically & calls us to befriend those we may not initially see. This is an excellent book

"Title should read: A Christian perspective on friendship"

I was fairly disappointed with this book. I was hoping for how to develop and deepen friendships. Instead the book is laced with plenty of biblical references, including referencing Christ, God and Jesus. I myself am not a Christian, and as such I did not relate with the author. There also seems to be a heavy focus on friendship with God rather than people. This should be categorized in the religious section because it feels as such. I felt the author was trying to convert me more than give me advice on friendship.
