Publisher's summary

This is Jane.

A little subdued, a little stubborn, a little tired of going out on blind dates with men who drive vans with sofas in the back, Jane Alcott is living the Single Girl existence in the big city. She is also leading a double life. By day she's a reporter covering the raucous Seattle Chinooks hockey team - especially their notorious goalie, Luc Martineau. By night she's a writer, secretly creating the scandalous adventures of "Honey Pie"...the magazine series that has all the men talking.

See Jane spar.

Luc has made his feelings about parasite reporters - and Jane - perfectly clear. But if he thinks he's going to make her life a misery, he'd better think again.

See Jane attract.

For as long as he can remember, Luc has been single-minded about his career. The last thing he needs is a smart-mouthed, pain-in-the-backside reporter digging into his past and getting in his way. But once the little reporter sheds her black and gray clothes in favor of a sexy red dress, Luc sees that there is more to Jane than originally meets the eye.

Maybe it's time to take a risk. Maybe it's time to live out fantasies. Maybe it's time to...

At last!

I love this series. I read the book years ago and I always wished it would be available from audible. I ordered it the second I saw it and started listening. It ranks right up there with my favorite audiobooks. I am going to relisten to the series in order now, only problem is that Book #2 THE TROUBLE WITH VALENTINE'S DAY is not available on audible. Now I am hoping that will be available soon.

Great Narrator...Great Story...An absolute treat!

What made the experience of listening to See Jane Score the most enjoyable?

Lucky Luc is always a treat! But when we get Luc and Jane and the hysterical banter that the narrator did an AMAZING job at bringing to life...Well...The story is just made THAT MUCH BETTER!

What did you like best about this story?

I love the "fall" of Luc, the way Jane goes from being someone who is so not his usual to the woman he can't be without!

Which scene was your favorite?

The second time Jane and Luc play darts after he hurts her. It's quite heartbreaking and emotional.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Who knew "Luck" and Love could come in one package!

Any additional comments?

This is probably one of my favorite Romances not just from Rachel Gibson, but out of all the romances I have read. The audio version just made it all the more enjoyable for me and I HIGHLY recommend SEE JANE SCORE!!

"Hair On Fire Hot"

What did you love best about See Jane Score?
Note Use the new 1.25x speed to get the full impact of this book.

This is a simple story, no FSOG stuff, just good big smile romance.
This author has humor, but YOU must be in the mood for it as she leads with it.
Author's Rescue Me, and Simply Irresistible are another good smile on your face books.
All of her Hockey team series are fun. (if you like this series, see Susan E. Phillips "It Had To Be You")

What did you like best about this story?
sexy and provocative like the earlier Sandra Browns romances, hot, but not over the top sex. This leads with humor then sexy.

What about Kathleen Early’s performance did you like?
She has learned to deepen your male voice to YUM! She can interpret this author's work so well. (note: she does the Karin Slaughter books, mystery/terror books)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When our 2 ladies speak in their 2nd language, "pig latin"

Any additional comments?
I own all of this author's Hockey series and I loved this book in the Writers series enough to get the rest. Thanks Audible for this sale of Editor Picks book/series, it worked!

Narrator pronounces every 'h,' and I mean EVERY one.

wHim...
nowHere...
wHile...

It's like she learned elocution from Henry Higgins. Nonetheless, the majority of her performance was good. Despite occasionally sounding like Stewie Griffin if he had a news anchor job, "meanwHile, in Syria." Oh boy.

The storyline was really quite enjoyable, Gibson is a great story teller. I would listen to it again... maybe in a wHile...

Extremely sexist--don't bother

This might be just me, but I kinda need my love interests to not be blatantly sexist when I'm listening to a romance book. Seriously, I have never formed such a horrible opinion of the main love interest so quickly. It's fine if a character starts out as a bit of a jerk, but they have to have some redeeming qualities to get you invested in them as a love interest. Luc was was just too much of a sexist, condescending jerk to ever be walked back into love interest territory.

Did not age well

Sexist and silly. Just a victim of changing attitudes towards men & women. I couldn’t suspend my disbelief it was just too nauseating to read about harsh gender roles within the sports world. The heroine even insulted herself over her small boobs and brown hair. Smh.

Scored!

The reason why I enjoyed this book was for the heroine. She was a nice departure from the typical romance. She wasn't a super model, but wasn't always body shaming herself (well not enough to make you feel sorry for her anyway). She was fiesty but not in an annoying way. She had guts but was also able to be sensitive. Overall, the book doesn't seem to take itself to serious and is funny and heartwarming. Worth the credit.

Absolutely terrible

The girl is a moron, the guy is a complete misogynistic pig- nothing romantic or sexy about the characters at all. If this wasn’t part of the romance subscription I would demand my money back. It was truly horrible and a complete waste of time- I kept thinking it would get better. Absolutely not.

Couldn't finish

Could barely start. I don't know where the story's going but I couldn't get behind the main character. She was given a great job, wasn't qualified to do it properly and then started complaining about how none would take her seriously. Life's too short.

Canadian stereotypes
A writer who kind of knows about hockey
A double life
Sometimes it was fun, funny and well paced. Overall the story was interesting and I listened to it in just under two days.

enjoyable old time romance

think it's a 3.5 for its rom-com genre. Read this many years ago and remembered enjoying it and on looking for light audible listen took chance on this, and was pleased I did. while a little dated, still felt it stood test of time. yes, nothing new in hockey champ meets "plane" Jane plot, but Jane isn't really plane, she just keeps it simple, and she's trying to make her way as female reported in male dominated world. the points of view are well done, light but not lacking depth, the chemistry feels real, and dialogue often funny. narrator did a great job - not over doing male voices, and for most part well differentiated.
