Disappearances, deaths, threats.... The local police are beginning to suspect all these crimes are linked. They're being committed by the sinister and mysterious Volkov family. There's just one problem: They can't prove it.

In order to take down the Volkovs and put a stop to these crimes, they call in a young, ambitious policeman, Antonin Jelennski. Antonin travels hundreds of miles, leaving his fiancee behind, to go undercover and infiltrate the Volkovs' organization. He pins down incriminating evidence, but he finds far more than they ever expected. Can he expose the dark secrets of the Volkovs and stop their crimes before it's too late?

characters are vivid. dialogue is good but you can tell this author has improved her craft tenfold in the last couple of years.

i feel like this story was rushed to be told. so much happened that the author resulted in telling a lot and not showing. too much passive in the tone.

the story itself is a good one and the characters were develeoped well enough to get the story going.

i feel like this is a summary of a really epic story and would like it fully fledged into a novel. if it's going to be this short it should really be written more efficiently.

Nice Story That was Told

The narrator’s accent makes it hard to understand. The book is written in the wrong POV for this genre and not well paced. I couldn’t get past the second chapter. Too many names delivered with boring details up front.

Just doesn’t fit the genre

The author introduces the plot at the beginning of the book and keeps the story moving by quickly introducing the characters and the crucial role they play.  I enjoyed the characters and the intelligence that each character brought to the story. I'm becoming a fan of Ellie Jay because Secrets of the Vokovs was just as fast paced as her other novel Family Secrets.  I would recommend reading or listening to Secrets of the Vokovs prior to listening to Family Secrets.

The narration of the story was provided by a true professional whose voice and speaking rhythm helped bring the story to life.

An Ellie Jay fan
