This Story Is Flirty

Publisher's Summary

Behind every little secret....

Mary Hamilton has had enough of being passed over by all of the eligible men in London, though she's had years and years of practice, and she's ready to give it up. But before she hangs up her dancing shoes for good, she wants one season of everything she's never had - invitations, flirtation, and suitors. But will all of that actually give her what she's always secretly wanted?

There's another secret waiting....

Geoffrey Harris is more than happy to spend his time being permanent escort to Mary during her final season in London. After all, she's been his best friend for years, and what better way to send her off than in grand style? But when her plan actually starts to work, he isn't so sure he wants any part of it, leaving him to wonder what it is he does want. Or who.

Sweet and clean

I enjoy friends to lovers stories and this is a nice, clean one. She's not quite a blue stocking who gets a makeover and almost lies herself. However, her handsome best friend and sister inevitably keep her grounded and we get a HEA that's just right.

An enjoyable story

An enjoyable story. While there were some minor historical inaccuracies, they were not a major distraction. While there were times that I didn’t particularly like the hero and heroine, I felt satisfied with the ending.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Once again, the author did not disappoint. I loved the banter, humor, impatience, rage, heartache, turmoil, devition of friendship, and love that ran through this entire book. The narrator did a phenomenal job at remembering the tone and rhythm she assigned characters from books past. Beautiful story.

Dither dither dither...

Arggghhh! I liked the first two of this series well enough. They do take patience because the characters have to think everything through a gazillion times, but I don't mind slow development in a Regency setting as long as it keeps moving forward. But I really can't stand repetitive dithering and misunderstandings that never seem to advance the relationship. This was the most repetitive book I've read in a long time. I couldn't care enough to finish it. I'll move onto the next and hope it is better.

Heartwarming

Lovely story and characters!!!!! I truly enjoyed reading this novel . The ending was wonderful! My only complaint was that it dragged a bit mid novel and I wanted to scream that Jeff didn’t speak up sooner! However—-when they finally came together it was well worth waiting for!!!!

Splendid Secrets!

This book is my favorite of the series so far! I love friendship turned to love stories. Rebecca Connolly has written a perfect one between Geoffrey and Mary. I loved how they infuriated each other and loved each other at the same time. I loved their witty dialogue too.

This paled when compared to others in the series

This book never got off the ground (in my opinion). It was fairly good but tended to be lacklustre and unmemorable.

The narration was good.

Characters to Love

Jeff an Mary hook the reader into their love story quickly and their humor and believability keep you there. However the plot is extremely weak. The social events and extreme lack of depth in the supporting characters reminded me of a junior high soap opera. Jeff and Mary kept me listening and I was able to finish cleaning a closet and fill 4 picture albums. I love Audible for that very reason.

Best in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the journey the two main characters go through. Sometimes what you want is the thing you already had.
