What did you love best about Thrawn (Star Wars)?

This story provides a great insight on Thrawn, the person himself. It shapes a different picture of Thrawn as oppose to the animation series of Clone Wars. Thrawn doesn't seem to be a bad guy, but more misunderstood. While Thrawn's seems to be bad, he isn't. Also, his overall agenda may be selfish, but it isn't for the Empire.

What other book might you compare Thrawn (Star Wars) to and why?

It's hard to say what to compare this story to, as the overall story itself is quite unique. If I had to say, Thrawn appears to be a person who in today's modern world is well versed in The Art of War by Sun Tzu. So in some ways I could compare the character of Thrawn to Sun Tzu himself; as Thrawn is well calculated, a tactician, and a person who has a keen insight of strategical warfare.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

As always, Marc Thompson is an excellent performer who always brings life to the Star Wars stories...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No not really. However, as Marc Thompson performs a great narration, you can't help to become engulfed into the story.

Any additional comments?

I gave the story a 4 of 5 stars only because there were a few moments the story had short period of dullness. There were just some portions that were unnecessary. Other than that, this was an awesome story. I'd listen to it again, again, and again....

An Superb Story!!!

As a long time fan of Thrawn I was definitely looking forward to this but wow! The Easter eggs were amazing and the ending...mind blowing! So incredible I can't even put it into words! Timothy Zahn please write more! And of course Marc Thompson is the one and only voice of Thrawn.

Wow!

Great story! Just wish it had more of the background environment ambiance like the Aftermath audiobooks.

Almost perfect.

Really great story, very good character building and good voice performance. Thrawn's voice is too low for me and hard for me to understand because of the soothing whispering voice. I dazed/snoozed off whenever there's a long conversation with Thrawn. Lol

Had to get use to Thrawn's voice.

Timothy Zahn does it again , with a deeper look into Thrawn . Another great performance by Marc Thompson. This book gives a way better understanding of Thrawn and his psyche .

A deeper look...

This was good but not great. There were points in the story where I just wasn't even really listening because it just wasn't engaging enough. It was somewhat predictable as well. So overall a good book and story but just not great. I will probably not continue the series.

Good but not great

My opinion is based on my personal preference and my preexisting relationship with Star Wars. it should be considered within that light. I read the original Thrawn trilogy and loved the original Thrawn character. This made me wary about this book, because some of the story and character directions that Disney has recently taken were disappointing to me (Luke in the last Jedi). However, this rewrite of Thrawn, as a character, is excellent. Maybe even better than before. He holds himself the same way, brilliant and intimidating. His story is worth hearing.

unfortunately, It came at a "Pryce".

The secondary story of Arihnda Pryce was dull. I seriously considered skipping the sections about her, especially since I had already watched her in the Star Wars: Rebels series and found her lacking as a "bad guy".

overall I think this book is worth reading because Thrawn is extremely interesting.

not enough of Thrawn

The novel follows the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn from a Chiss outcast to his unprecedented rise throughout the imperial ranks. Along with his protege Eli Vanto, which himself is a outer rim citizen set for a stable position until Thrawn comes around, they complete several adventures along the way, while trying to connect the dots between them to find out who is the sinister Nightswan...
There is also a significant amount of time following the origins and the rise of Arhinda Price, her story is much about the political game of thrones then anything, while also connecting with the main storyline throughout the novel.

Great Voice talent! Very good novel overall

Much like the original story of Thrawn, created and originally written by Zahn this new Canon story reintroduces us to the Chiss character in a similar yet different way. Covering much of his background and bringing the character's history up to speed for Star Wars Rebels this book this is a must read for any Thrawn fan. It was really so artistically done.

Zahn does it again
