Publisher's Summary

After a year of fighting across three different lands, Dante and Blays have finally brought Gladdic to justice - and in the process, they've unleashed a horror beyond all reckoning.

The enemy is known as the White Lich. He is ancient. He is immensely powerful. And Gladdic believes he will soon enslave all of Tanar Atain.

Their only chance to defeat him is to strike fast, before the lich has regained his power. But attacking him directly would be suicide. Instead, Gladdic has an alternative. Once upon a time, the lich was human, with a mortal body. Gladdic believes that original body is still out there, hidden somewhere in the swamps.

If they can find it and kill it, then the lich should die with it. But if they fail, the White Lich will rip the souls from the people of Tanar Atain - and turn his gaze on the rest of the world.

Brilliant! More Please!!

Its always a worry to me when reading multiple parts of a book because you never know if its going to be as good or warn out, but with that said this book 4 is absolutely amazing, it keeps me on edge for the most part and I'm asking myself constantly through this book "what's going to happen next!!??" I love how the author incorporates Gladic in this story as well as the new characters. As always the author keeps the great sense of humor of the main hero's and in my opionion goes to another level with them. The only thing I'm truly dissapointed in is how long I'm going to have to wait before the next book comes out.

Fantastic

This was really one of the best books in the series. And it had me on edge for Dante and Blaze to pull things off.

Wow, just gets better!

I can't wait for the next book, this was something special. The only downside is having to wait for 6-12 months for the hopeful conclusion of the cycle of Galand.

Great nail bitter!

I'm not sure where to begin..
The story picks up right after the previous book and from there forward, all predictions were thrown out the window..
I grew so use to the means and methods Dante and blaze operated by that I could almost always see what was going to happen next or at least envision their means to victory.

I really enjoyed the struggle this book has to offer and the bigger picture it develops compared to the previous books in the Galand series.

I also enjoyed seeing our main characters having to coup with a whole new feeling of hopelessness and dread and the unlikely friendships they develop along the way.

I disliked some of the talking in circles and the slow build up to the action... but overall it was worth it.
I'd recommend anyone who has gotten this far into the series to not stop now! You MUST experience this adventure!

Good, But Not Best In Series

Any additional comments?

I've enjoyed all the Cycle of Arawn and Galand books so far, with some more than others. The Light of Life has been my least favorite book of the two series so far.It was nice to be back on an adventure with Dante and Blayze again, but this book starts out with the two trying to figure out how to kill the White Liche, and ends in pretty much the same place. The book is mostly comprised of Dante and Blayze leading their crew paddling here and there in the swamps, with a break for a few chapters of sitting in the grass trying to learn a new form of magic, and then back to paddling around.

And what ever happened to Rosha? The last three books spent a large portion of each book to build up a secondary character and story for Rosha, only to end anti-climatically with her being sent away and not given even a small part in this book. What was the point of the build up? Perhaps she will turn up later, but it seemed a missed opportunity to bring some more action to this book.

Overall, I'm sure that there were some building blocks laid in this book to help the plot of the final book of the Cycle of Galand, but this book seems to be mostly filler to extend the series. The Narration of Tim Gerald Reynolds was perfect.

Still a fan but this was my least favorite in the series

I will always love Dante and Blays, but every character in this volume was just as sarcastic as they are. None of the characters had their own voice. Ok, Beck and Naran but they barely had a pulse. Volo, Era, Gladdic, even Jonah. Where's the character who's feelings get hurt at all the sarcasm or who is resentful of it but never says anything or who is funny without being sarcastic or is just shy and thoughtful or ANY personality rather than strong and sarcastic. I'm annoyed. And the philosophizing got really long-winded and was coming from everywhere and everyone. I felt like a prisoner on a firing line getting hit with philosophy bullets out of 10 machine guns. More multi-faceted characters next time Mr. Robertson! More story, less philosophy! I will not give up on Blays and Dante but gah! Help a sister out! The end.

Excellent

Yet another enchanting story from the mind of Edward W. Robertson, a writer who is rapidly becoming my favorite author. Not to mention the superb reading of Mr. Reynolds who once again magically brought not only the story but the characters to life. My only regret is the lack of another book in this series to continue reading.

Great Series

I have enjoyed this epic ongoing series and like many hope it continues for many more cycles to come. This was a particularly dark episode in the cycle and moved at a splendid pace. However like all his books he does have a tendency to periodically go off at a rambling tangent with what I can only describe as some rather dull passages of over detailed prose. I am not sure if this is entirely the authors fault or if the narrator exacerbates the issue. However it’s easy to forgive such things as the rest of the story makes up for it. The main characters are also at last after many episodes also developing into more credible, mature and dare I say it more interesting personalities. Look forward to the next instalment.

I love this series!

This series has quickly jumped into my top 5 book series of all time. The narrator is extremely good at his job and keeps me immersed in the story with the whitty banter between the characters and how he portrays them. I can't wait for the next book in the series I hope it's out soon!

The Best I've Read

I'm quite widely read, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is the best book I've ever read. The author takes the antagonist of the second book and shows how his world view is destroyed and reformed anew, at which point he moves from antagonist to mentor and companion.

The book is conpletely written from the mains characters' points of view, the extraneous secondary character perspectives are removed completely, and the book returns to the primary characters' camraderie that I first fell in love with.

If you have gotten this far in the series, you probably know you're in for witty writing and morally complex characters, but this is the best in the series by far.

lots of dialog

The action continues and ever expands, creating more characters and possibilities...but the flippant chatter is incessant. I am used to it, but every now and then it grates. As to Gladdic's role in the saga...well

Another great book by Robertson

I have love all of the books in this series and this one was up there, but it did feel a bit like filler till the rest of the story could be pinned down.
