About the Creator and Co-Host

Lux Alptraum is a writer and podcast host with a penchant for thorny and difficult topics. Prior to Say You’re Sorry, she was the host of season two of New York Magazine’s Tabloid podcast, which takes a look at the cultural fall out of the Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee sex tape. She also served as a development producer on Fusion’s Peabody nominated show, Sex.Right.Now, and spent several years as editor of Gawker Media’s infamous sex blog, Fleshbot. Her first book, Faking It: The Lies Women Tell About Sex — And the Truths They Reveal, examines our collective obsession with feminine deceit.

About the Co-Host

Siona is a writer, producer, and reporter who is fascinated by the personal stories that exist at the intersection of the political and the cultural. Her work is informed by the principles of movement journalism and she has experience focusing on issues of arts & culture, race, migration, and gentrification stateside and abroad. Siona was a 2020 Air New Voices Scholar and currently, she’s a producer on an up-and-coming podcast with Complex Networks. In her free time, she’s either curating playlists for all her homies, cooking, or striking conversations with strangers.

At one or many points in our lives we will owe someone an apology, and someone will owe us one as well. Many will get it right, by simply and sincerely saying "I’m sorry." They might even add, "What can I do to make this right?" Unfortunately, some will try but render their apology null and void by saying, "I'm sorry, but..." In an earnest apology, there is no "but." Much has been written on the subject from psychologists to humorists to trusted gatekeepers of etiquette whose engaging listens will guide you to the right apology.

I'm on episode... four? Five? And enjoying the hell out of this, plus I'll be looking up Siona Peterous's other projects, because the episode she hosted was fantastic. "Enjoy" is maybe not the right word to use, given some of the things that people are apologizing for -- the first episode on Lacy Crawford and St. Paul's School, for example -- but this is a compelling show that's had me listening for hours today, and I'm about to voluntarily fold laundry in order to keep listening some more. I re-subscribed to Audible specifically to check this one out, and I'm glad I did.

The idea that apologies can really matter is explored through a wide and deep analysis of some of the most public and private apologies that have been offered recently. The very idea of what makes a sincere apology is examined, when shallow, fake apologies abound. I would love to listen to a second season. Bravo!
