2019 Hudson Booksellers Best of the Year

2019 Kirkus Reviews Best Books of the Year

"Action packed and razor sharp - Jack Reacher would love Nikki Griffin." (Lee Child, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Past Tense)

S.A. Lelchuk’s Save Me from Dangerous Men marks the beginning of a gripping new series and the launch of a fabulous new character. Nikki Griffin is a kick-ass character who listeners will root for as she seeks to right the world's wrongs.

Nikki Griffin isn't your typical private investigator. In her office above her bookstore’s shelves and stacks, where she luxuriates in books and the comfort they provide, she also tracks certain men. Dangerous men. Men who have hurt the women they claim to love. And Nikki likes to teach those men a lesson, to teach them what it feels like to be hurt and helpless, so she can be sure that their victims are safe from them forever.

When a regular PI job tailing Karen, a tech company's disgruntled employee who might be selling secrets, turns ugly and Karen's life is threatened, Nikki has to break cover and intervene. Karen tells Nikki that there are people after her. Dangerous men. She says she'll tell Nikki what's really going on. But then something goes wrong, and suddenly, Nikki is no longer just solving a case - she's trying hard to stay alive.

Critic Reviews

"Save Me from Dangerous Men is one of those rare thrillers that draws you in so relentlessly that you find yourself getting kicked out of bed and reading all night on the sofa. If you’re a fan of Jack Reacher or Lisbeth Salander, you are gonna love Nikki Griffin." (Douglas Preston, number-one New York Times best-selling coauthor of the acclaimed Pendergast series)

"Narrator January LaVoy introduces listeners to Nikki Griffin, the unforgettable, multidimensional heroine of a new action-packed series...Well worth the listen!" (AudioFile magazine)

Fast and Fun with Great Narration...

This is a really good debut novel by S.A. Lelchuck. It's also the start of a new series. I know that if there are future books I will definitely be purchasing them.
The heroine, Nikki Griffin leads a double life. By day she owns and operates a bookstore. By night she is a PI/vigilante for abused women. She's learned different fighting styles and has a few toys of the trade (brass knuckles etc). Along the way she's picked up a few friends but for the most part she's a loner.
Along comes a job out of her league but the $ is too good to pass up. Just follow a woman working for a company who may be stealing secrets. When Nikki meets the woman, she's petrified and thinks her life is in danger. Nikki agrees to meet up with her later to get more information but when she arrives at the woman's home, she's been brutally murdered.
Who ever kill this woman now wants to kill Nikki.
Nikki is a bit of a Wonder Woman with over the top skills and beauty but if you can see your way past that this is a really good book.
January LaVoy does an outstanding job narrating.
I thoroughly enjoyed this fun and fast paced book and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. I look forward to the next book in this new series.

Shelley recommended it so I listened

I've been following Audible listener Shelly's reviews for at least 7 of my 15 years with Audible. Her excellent reviews have pointed me to many, many great books and series of the the mystery/thriller genres. The Nikki Griffin series by S. A. Lelchuk is an example. Shelley has earned over 41,000 helpful votes which may be an Audible record but she deserves even more. Her reviews are consistently top notch. One Got Away which is Book 2 in this series is her most recent review.

aMaZing !!

This book hit all the feels for me. A witty sarcastic woman who knows how to defend herself / part vigilante and part best friend. This book made me want to know this woman Nikki and invite her over for drinks. The book moves so quickly, love that! But not so quickly that you can't keep up. Can't praise this book and narration enough - its one of my favs this year!

Mover Over Jack Reacher, CowGirl Upped

I purchased this book and author due to narrator Ms LaVoy who has become my new fave performer. See Ms LaVoy performing author Marcia Clark, Rachel Knight series. The series is great and I have enjoyed re listening to each of the stories again. Do not miss Ms LaVoy narration of Mary Higgins Clark I’ve Got My Eyes on You, as that book steals your heart. See Ms LaVoy on Twitter as she proudly claims her biracial heritage as a POC. She has such a rich narrative voice for interpreting an authors work. Her male and children voices are superb.
If you liked this story, see Angela Dawe narrate Alan McDermott Run and Hide for a fast ride, and Marcia Clarks Samantha Brinkman series, Well done.
The Publishers summery is spot on so no need to add to it. I do use the 1.25x speed to match the adventure.
Our heroine has a soft spot for women who can not stand up for themselves. As the plot thickens our heroine must use all her skills to make sure justice is well served.
I have no doubt, there will be a sequel and Ms. LaVoy will be narratating it due to the success of this book.

Loved this book.

For me this is the perfect thriller. it has a tough flawed heroine , think Jack Reacher, the narration is seamless, the action is over the top. The mystery was fairly predictable but who cares? Overall it was a lot of fun. When is the next one coming out?

Excellent addition to the Dragon Tattoo genre

Lots of tumult. A little repetitive. Outstanding narration. A fun listen if you don’t object to a host of cracked heads.

Amazing! Can't put it down!

I rarely read books quickly. But I read this book straight through! It is thoughtful, action-packed and filled with amazing literary references and spot-on descriptions of Bay Area daily life. I would recommend it to anyone!!!

Gripping story, amazing narration

Really enjoyed this one. It was an exciting page-turner with fun characters (think Raymond Chandler for the digital age and the #metoo era). January LaVoy's narration was superb too. I couldn't put it down...finished it in two days!

Get to the point already!

The whole book danced around the point way too much! It was also way too far fetched. As if FBI agents would really be begging a random girl for knowledge supposedly so big? And she’s the only person who can save everyone? Give me a break. Also the love story that was written half-heartedly throughout the book was just awful. Definitely could have done without.
The only saving grace was January LaVoy’s narration.
