Publisher's Summary

She's a lone wolf with a cause.

As a volunteer at a shelter for lone shifters - the same one that rescued her - Makenna Wray has dedicated her life to finding homes for its residents. And when she discovers that a teen in her care is related to Ryan Conner, the broody, handsome-as-sin enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, she's eager to help connect the two. She just wasn't prepared to feel a connection of her own.

Lone wolves are loners for a reason - and most of them bad. Or so Ryan assumes until he meets the mysterious Makenna. Quirky and sensual, she seems to enjoy riling him, especially when she refuses to discuss her past. Although there is no mating bond, he's sure she's the one. All he has to do is be patient and wait. But when another pack's sinister Alpha comes sniffing around, threatening Makenna and her shelter, this enforcer is ready to let his wolf off the leash....

Great book under $8

Savage Urges is my fifth book in the Phoenix Pack series and I really enjoyed the book. Author Suzanne Wright had quite the great series going on here. Her writing style just draws me in and her characters are just so top notch. She definitely has a something worth listening too here.

Oh my gosh, I just loved Makenna and Ryan. She’s strong, fiercely loyal, and just perfect for Ryan. Ryan, oh my. How can someone be so sexy while being broody! They both have some serious hurt in their pasts but instead of destroying them, it just makes them so much stronger. Mixing them together, her sassy quirkiness and his my face may break if I show emotions, had my alternating between laughing and sighing. As good as the sex is between them, and it was REALLY good, it was their more personal moments that got my heart all aflutter. It’s not all smooth sailing for them. He’s convince she’s his mate and she doesn’t want to get hurt again, another pack tries to take over the shelter Makenna works out, missing relatives, lost loners, and so much more. Throw it all together it makes for a very hard to put down entertaining listen that ends in the best HEA.

And now for a little PSA. I really need to commend the author on her representation of the lone shifters. Whether it was intended or not, loners were described similar to the way most people think homeless people are. Shifty, bad, evil, they are homeless/loners because they choose to be. Showing them as not all bad but more of victims of their circumstances whether it is abuse, abandonment or forced out. While this is not my first book containing loner shifters, it is the first where they are not some horrible destructive force. Thank you Ms. Wright!

Any PNR fan, especially for shifters, will enjoy listening to Savage Urges. I love both and I know I have. Just make sure, unless you plan to stay up all night, to not start listening to this book before bed. You may find yourself struggling to put it down. Yup, it’s that good. Can’t wait for the next book!

Jill Redfield is one of my favourite narrators and she was outstanding with the delivery of the story

Love the Phoenix Pack!

This series is great and never disappoints. Ryan, Mr. Serious, Phoenix pack enforcer is the one with cupid's arrow stuck in his fur this time around. He's not against finding his mate and doesn't fight it at all which is a nice change from his stubborn pack mates. However, his mate is a bit stubborn herself. Lots of obstacles to their happiness, including past baggage, a seriously slimy alpha, anti-shifter zealots and more. An excellent addition to the series.

Jill Redfield is one of the best female narrators out there. I love her male and female voices, and her narration amplifies the writing and brings it to life in a way words on a page just can't. She had a couple of extremely rare moments where her sentences faltered just a hair, but I think this is the first time I have ever heard her be less than perfect, so it just makes me happy to know she can have an off day just like the rest of us mere mortals. I always appreciate her ability to communicate the right emotions, whether they be humor, lust, desperation, suspicion, exasperation, nastiness or love, in a way that enhances the story and makes it better.

The heat factor is pretty hot, though this one seemed a slight bit tamer than the others. The series as a whole is a 9, but this book is around an 8 on a 1-10 scale of, "Is it hot in here?" Also, as always, books in this series are a great deal at under $10 each, so save the credits, and rejoice in the awesomeness that is a great price on a full-length novel with no cliffhanger. This entire series is an absolute must for any paranormal, shifter romance lover who doesn't have a problem with sizzling bedroom action involving seriously hot, controlling, alpha males with dirty minds, foul language and deliciously filthy actions.

I paid cash money for this audiobook, I'm glad I did, and I'm gonna do it again when the next one comes out! BTW, all my reviews are unbiased, whether I pay or get it free.

Love the Series

I've enjoyed all of the Phoenix Pack books. The series moves from one mated pair to the next in interesting storylines with great character interaction. I especially like the integrity each book highlights as loyalty, strength and honor are displayed in all the Phoenix Pack wolves and their families.

True Mates

I love this series and the way Wright finds perfect matches for each pack member. The fated true mate thing is a novel idea and we should all be so lucky but honestly not even fate has wright's sense of humor in pairing true mates.

Ryan of the serial killer stare and grunts meets quirky free-spirited Makenna and you think well this should be fun to watch play out. Ryan is stunningly sweet and protective and 100% ready to accept his mate quirks and all even though she makes him crazy. Not simply because she is fated mate but because she makes him feel anything. Makenna doesn't trust anything she can't feel and would never cheat Ryan out of the mate fate has waiting for him. For her it is simple no bond means she can't keep him. Ryan doesn't give a damn about fate he wants the one person in the world who make him want to smile and won't stop at anything until he wears her down.

Why are the true mates not because of the fated bond but because they fit together perfectly even when they shouldn't.

Still the steamy humor filled romp you are used to in this series but with a stunning sweetness and heart revealed in both leads.

Hot. Smart. Heart wrenching.

Suzanne Wright has an incredible talent for communicating emotions, tells highly character-driven stories, and seriously delivers the heat during intimate relations. To top all that off, her stories are interesting, imaginative, and riveting. Can't recommend her highly enough.

Jill Redfield's performance was perfection. She really got the characters and emotions across well. I definitely enjoyed listening.

Guess it Was Just Me

Any additional comments?

Listened to 2 of the other books in this series and this one seems like it was written by someone else. It is one of the most boring books I've listened to in a long time. What a struggle to finish this book without falling asleep or tossing my iPod out of sheer frustration. Didn't care about either of the main characters.

Great Book

Suzanne Wright does a great job of creating a quality story. Jill Redfield does a wonderful job with the characters in the book. Loved how the story develops into a love story between Makenna and Ryan. Their relationship struggles through a family connection, suspense and a life/death situation. One of those books that is hard to put down.

Suzanne Wright Does it Again!

This is my 2nd listen through of this book! Jill Redfield is the perfect narrator for this series and the spin offs. Ryan and Makenna's story is one of my favorites! The whole are they or aren't they part of the story was well written. I was highly satisfied with the conclusion of the story.

Ryan & Makenna may be perfect opposites

This is just another amazing addition to the series. I have yet to be able to pick a favorite story or couple. I find at the time I read each book I love that couple the most. Honestly, the whole series is just so good. No one book seems to outshine the others or take away from the series.

The amount of joy I get reading these books is the reason I love books so much. The escape it gives is too good to pass, to live and love another life for a while. Bliss.

Full of fun, suspense, drama, and a really good amount of spice you can't go past these alpha males and the women that wrap them around their little fingers. They each complete each other in some way and it's a joy to watch those bonds form.

I've been listening to the audiobook when out on walks. Love the whole series and anything Suzanne Wright has put out.

Makenna meets a young wolf shifter passed out on her doorstep one morning. Being a lone shifter who works at a lone shifter shelter she takes the teen in and gets him set up at the shelter to help him out. As her job is to rehome shifters she sets about to find someone to take Zac in.

Ryan Conner is surprised by the wolf he catches following him, what surprises him more is the reason she's following him. His cousin Zac is in need of a new home after losing his parents and running from his pack. Ryan would never turn his back on someone who needed him and regardless of the fact he doesn't know Zac he wants him. It's not that easy though Zac is frightened and the strange little lone shifter Makenna is protective of him.

To ease his fears Ryan begins to spend time with Zac which is under Makenna's watchful eye. He finds an unusual attraction to the female. When he starts to suspect Makenna may be someone very important to him Ryan sets about not only winning Zac's trust but Makenna's as well.

Most shifters are wary of lone shifters believing they are alone for a reason but spending time with not just Mackenna but around the shelter Ryan and the Pheonix Pack realizes how misguided they have been to label all loners the same.

The shelter is in trouble though with an alpha wolf wanting to take over the territory and the shelter. The owner Dawn does not want to give it up and not just because it's her territory but also for the loners who need her assistance they would never trust being under a pack's protection like that. The alpha's intentions also seem to be darker than first thought.

Ryan won't let Makenna down though and he'll be by her side protecting her and the shelter also. With one blow after the other, it seems they may lose to Remy. His plans to win will cause issues for many of the residents of the shelter and the Pheonix Pack.

The Pheonix pack is strong and won't be beaten, but what will the win and helping the shelter cost them.

Happy Listening

Great Narration.

Read through KU whilst also flicking and listening to the audible version too. What a great idea to Read and Listen. Very handy using my headphones when doing stuff around the house. I don’t lose the flow of the story. Will be buying all the audible books over time. I have to say the narrator for this book was one of the best with an enjoyable narration. Lots of inflections and I could tell most of the characters apart. BOOK REVIEW Not a better book in this series. Also has a touchy subject matter involved. Though I loved how the plot played out it just lacked something. Not sure what as the humour was amusing, the characters likeable and the story flowed well. Though we never spent much time with grunting Ryan in previous books, he was always there as part of the pack. I loved how he instantly wanted Zac with his pack. His positive attitude towards Mackenna being his true mate was nice. Makenna, the heroine, I didn’t dislike her, I just didn’t warm to her. Though she was smart mouthed and had character, she just didn’t connect for me. I knew it was her holding back the bond. Loved the Shelter for Loners, wonderful idea but I absolutely hated what happens to Colton. Wasn’t needed. Once again the council show they are corrupt and not there for the shifters best interests. They need replacing. An abused person does not have to become an abuser. The alpha baddie Remy was a sad example of cycling childhood drama. The fact Seline the evil enforcer and Remy were true mates was a terrible waste of what could have been, if he had just dealt with his mother when he grew up. His mother should have been taken out years ago. Unfortunately, she wasn’t. They were all dealt with way too easily. I am reading this series in the correct reading order and have binge read to play catch up between the two packs. We once again have a very similar scenario with Ryan’s parents being wastes of space, the heroine being the main cause of the non-bonding and baddies that are laughable. Read through KU whilst also flicking and listening to the audible version too. I have to say the narrator for this book was one of the best with an enjoyable narration. Lots of inflections and I could tell most of the characters apart.

****Mind blowing****

This book has me crying and laughing and so many more emotions that evoked from this story. As i said from the previous book, Suzanne tackles stories that still considered to be tabboo and i am so glad for highlighting this issues because it is happening and so many childrens are suffering. Jill Redfield your narrative is mahnificent, i am now one of your biggest fan and hope to listen to more of you. thank you.
