Story
In October 1943, a U.S. destroyer sailed out of Philadelphia and supposedly vanished, the result of a Navy experiment with electromagnetic radiation. The story was considered a hoax - but now Juan Cabrillo and his Oregon colleagues aren't so sure. There is talk of a new weapon soon to be auctioned, something very dangerous to America's interests, and the rumors link it to the great inventor Nikola Tesla, who was working with the Navy when he died in 1943. Was he responsible for the experiment? Are his notes in the hands of enemies?

When the CIA realizes the identities of three American spies in Brazil have been compromised, they turn to Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon to rescue the agents. Terrible change of narrator spoils a great series
Where does Sacred Stone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Story- A solid Clive Cussler adventure, and just right for a bit of entertaining listening. Pretty good story, as long as you can suspend belief every now and then, but that's part of the charm with a Clive Cussler book.
Narrator - not the very worst I've heard, (although his female and non-American accents are grating) but not a patch on Scott Brick. Seems such a pity to change the narrator to add books1 & 2 when the rest of the series is by Scott Brick and we have got used to how the characters should sound.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Has to be Juan. Such a complex person, always puts everyone else first and such a sad back-story.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of J Charles?
Has to be Scott Brick. I don't know if any feedback gets back to Penguin Randomhouse, but PLEASE re-record these first 2 books in the series.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did, because I wanted to hear the story, but the change of narrator, odd accents and his strange pauses or weird emphasis on words spoilt my enjoyment.
Any additional comments?
Why change a good thing when it's not broken and has been having great reviews?

Could not finish this book....
This was a book I wanted to listen to, I love the Juan Cabrillo series however the narrator spoiled this for me, I simply could not get into the story ....Not without Mr Brick, when you get so used to hearing one narrator....(and lets be honest) Scot Brick does a great job, it is difficult to even begin to try and understand a story when all of the characters voices have changed.
Why ruin a great series by making these sort of changes...big mistake Random Audio, if ever I see another book with a change of narrator I WONT BUY IT.

The worst English accent since Mary Poppins!
Not the best of his books, the reader's English accent is awful.. I mean terrible, so bad it's laughable! Quite distracting.
That aside it's not a bad story but lacks the pace of some of his other books.

The narration let a great book down....
To start I love this book, I've read it once and then bought the audio book to listen to it in the car, it's a great book.
The issue I have is the narration especially when the narrator (American) tries to do an English (British) accent, its awful with out giving much away this narrator knows only 2 British accents they are very posh for people who are in charge and a bad cockney accent (think Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins) I would normally ignore this but it really spoilt the whole audio book for me.

Enjoyable BUT!
Enjoyable but at times the voices were strained & verging on the comical.
Am glad Cussler uses less formal means of addressing key characters in more recent tales from Oregon Files.
This early account was a little stilted & stuffy.
