Publisher's Summary

From the star of Bravo’s hit reality show Below Deck comes Running Against the Tide, the “Stud of the Sea”'s first-ever memoir recounting his journey from landlocked Saginaw, Michigan to the high seas, where he has spent more than 25 years as a superyacht captain.

The cast members of Below Deck are known for their catfights, scheming, personal attacks, and long-held grudges, but what keeps viewers coming back week after week is resident hero Captain Lee, the only cast member to appear in all five seasons.

But you don’t have to be one of Below Deck’s 1.5 million weekly viewers to appreciate Captain Lee’s story, which offers a glimpse behind-the-scenes at the luxury yachting industry and one of Bravo’s biggest franchises. From having to reclaim his drunk captain's lost papers in the Dominican Republic to unwittingly crewing a drug boat out of Turks and Caicos to navigating the outrageous demands of the super-rich in New York City, Captain Lee's tales from the high seas run the gamut, proving time and time again why he’s a fan favorite: He’s occasionally profane, he’s often surprising, but he’s never dull and, for the first time, he’s here to tell all.

The story was decent but poor narration

The story was okay. Captain Lee's narration was dull and monotonous. I hoped for more.

An inside perspective

You can expect the same whit and sharp comedy from the book as received from the show Below Deck!
It also brings in the humble honesty from Captain Lee. His gruff yet calm voice makes it feel like your sitting in front of him listening to his life’s story. Great Read!

Excellent read

One of the best I’ve read (listened to). The stories are interesting and genuine, great lessons to be learned. It reminded me of sitting and listening to my GrandDad’s stories years ago. Highly recommend.

Loved the book

As an avid viewer of Below Deck I loved hearing Captain Lee tell his story himself. It was interesting to hear how he ended up in yachting and his trials and tribulations along the way. Would recommend to anyone who loves Below Deck or boating in general.

Really cute

You don’t get to know much about captain lee on the show but this book lets you hear some stories from before the show.
I would have liked to hear more (or another book?) on his time filming the show.
You can tell he is not really a writer because it is written a little poorly. Maybe next time he should have someone write for him.
