Acerca de esta escucha
A short story by John Philips.
If you had the power to raise the dead for helping and protecting others, would you use it? Even if that power comes from a macabre and twisted source?
John, Andrew, and Kate planned for a relaxing catch-up during a weekend stay in the countryside. However, by chance, they discover a horrifying secret that allows them to raise the dead!
If most people knew about this recently discovered ability, they would think it repulsive. But as their power grows, so does the sinister and unwanted attention of others.
Will John, Andrew, and Kate learn how to wield their nightmarish and dark talent before it’s taken from them?

Patrick and Clare wake up trapped in a basement, a thin wall separating their cells. Their captor is mysteriously absent, which at first seems like a blessing. As more time passes with no food or water, they begin to realize a clock is ticking for their survival. Combining their intelligence and determination, the two begin plotting an escape from their shared prison. Overcoming each obstacle only presents another obstacle standing in the way of their freedom. It will take all of their ingenuity and strength to find their way out of this mess.

Historia
A psychopath is terrorizing Copenhagen. His calling card is a “chestnut man” - a handmade doll made of matchsticks and two chestnuts - which he leaves at each bloody crime scene. Examining the dolls, forensics makes a shocking discovery - a fingerprint belonging to a young girl, a government minister’s daughter who had been kidnapped and murdered a year ago. A tragic coincidence - or something more twisted? To save innocent lives, a pair of detectives must put aside their differences to piece together the Chestnut Man’s gruesome clues.

Would you raise the dead?
In a world teeming with stories that captivate the mind and ignite the imagination, "Rulers of the Living Dead: Part 1" stands as an extraordinary gem, a narrative masterpiece that explores the boundaries of life and death. Authored by the gifted John Philips and brought to life by the unparalleled narration skills of Nigel Peever, this audiobook is a mesmerizing journey that seamlessly blends spine-chilling suspense, heart-wrenching dilemmas, and the allure of the unknown. Accompanied by impeccable sound effects and music, Peever's narration takes listeners on a gripping ride, igniting emotions and leaving an indelible mark on the soul.
From the very first moment, Nigel Peever's voice captures the audience's attention and transports them into the depths of this riveting tale. His enunciation, pacing, and command over the various characters' voices are nothing short of remarkable. It's not just his proficiency in modulating his tone to differentiate between characters; it's the soul he infuses into each voice that elevates the narrative. Peever's ability to convey the nuances of emotion, the tension in pivotal scenes, and the quiet introspection of the characters showcases his mastery over the art of storytelling.
However, what truly sets this audiobook apart is Peever's ingenious use of music and sound effects. The carefully curated musical compositions and atmospheric soundscapes serve as an auditory tapestry, weaving seamlessly into the narrative's fabric. They heighten tension, underscore emotional moments, and draw the listener deeper into the world created by John Philips. The synergy between Peever's voice, the music, and the sound effects creates an immersive experience that is akin to stepping into the shoes of the characters and witnessing their struggles firsthand.
"Rulers of the Living Dead: Part 1" is a gripping tale that explores a supernatural gift that has been the subject of human fascination for centuries: power over death. John Philips masterfully crafts a story that delves into the moral complexities of wielding such power. The audiobook introduces us to John, Andrew, and Kate, friends who stumble upon the macabre ability to raise the dead. The premise itself is intriguing, but it's the layers Philips adds to the narrative that make it truly captivating.
The characters are not mere vessels to propel the plot forward; they are multi-dimensional beings with their own hopes, fears, and desires. The internal struggles they face as they grapple with the consequences of their newfound power are portrayed with sensitivity and authenticity. Philips does not shy away from exploring the darker aspects of human nature, and it's this willingness to delve into the shadows that makes the story so compelling.
At the heart of "Rulers of the Living Dead: Part 1" lies a thought-provoking question: What would you do if you had the power to raise the dead? The moral dilemmas that emerge from this question are woven into the fabric of the story, adding depth and complexity to the characters' journeys. As their power grows, so does the attention of those who would exploit it for their own gains. The tension escalates, and the listener finds themselves holding their breath, waiting to see if John, Andrew, and Kate will master their extraordinary talent or succumb to the darkness that threatens to consume them.
In many ways, John Philips' storytelling style is reminiscent of the great Ray Bradbury and, perhaps, Rod Serling. This tale undoubtedly has a Twilight Zone feel to it. Like Bradbury, Philips has a keen eye for human nature and a gift for crafting narratives that resonate on a profound level. He seamlessly blends the supernatural with the everyday, infusing the ordinary with a sense of wonder and the uncanny. The vivid imagery he paints with his words allows listeners to vividly envision the world he has created, making the experience even more immersive.
In conclusion, "Rulers of the Living Dead: Part 1" is an audiobook that deserves accolades for its masterful storytelling, expert narration, and innovative use of audio elements. Nigel Peever's narration is a tour de force that breathes life into the characters and enhances the narrative's emotional depth. John Philips' tale of power, morality, and the human psyche is both thought-provoking and deeply engaging. As you embark on this audio journey, be prepared to be transported into a world where life and death intertwine, where moral dilemmas abound, and where the power of storytelling reaches its zenith.

Epic Journey Awesome Listen
This little story has it all. It starts out right away with fantastic voice changes by Nigel (Narrator). From the time it starts to the time it finishes your right that with John(minor spoiler) His journey through this night is just plain epic. The characters are played nicely. The sound affects are incredibly done. If you like dark scary stories this one has it all Lightning Thunder and very spooky sound effects. I loved it and I wished it was longer. My time with John in this story was amazing. Yes I felt like I was side by side with John. I highly recommend this book. Give it a try 15 stars.
