Publisher's summary

After circling around each other for so long, are they ready to take it to the next level?

Mason can admit that he's had the hots for rough and gruff Gage Hillcrest for well over a year now. Only Gage is bossy and overbearing as all hell. Not to mention that Gage is a closed book and Mason doesn't know anything about the man.

Gage has wanted smart mouthed and sexy, Mason Taylor since he first laid eyes on him. But the two of them are like oil and water. Mason is wild. And well, Gage is not. Mason also has a big house and more money than he'd ever need while Gage is drowning in debt.

When Pegasus is asked to help the local police find a missing undercover officer, the unit leaps in with all hands on deck. Lives collide when they roll out on the mission and Mason finds out that Gage needs aid taking care of his family. Of course, Mason jumps in to help.

As the pair grow closer, life gets more complicated when Gage's son goes missing. With loved ones in jeopardy, Pegasus will do everything in their power to find the little boy and recover the missing undercover cop before it's too late.

Because in the end, it's all about family and taking care of those in need.

Contains mature themes.

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, interesting plot.
I enjoyed Mason and Gage's story - although I did want to shake Gage until his stubbornness was gone! Mason's character has his moments, but all-in-all came across as a genuinely good guy who wants to help Mason - I liked the interaction between Mason and the kids. "Rough" has all the elements this author writes so well: action, adventure, great character development and a team of operatives that will do whatever it takes to have each others backs!

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoyed Declan Winter's narration, he really suits these type of characters, has good cadence, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other. Overall an enjoyable performance and he bought the characters of the book to life

Sweet and Exciting Mixed Feelings

Gage works as a secret operative in the Pegasus organization. He doesn’t tell his co-workers about the existence of his kids or his problematic ex-wife. When he starts running into problems and doesn’t ask for help, his co-worker, Mason steps in and saves the day. After the walls fall down between the two men, sparks fly. Meanwhile, solving mysteries, gun fights, and saving people from evil kidnappers are just a typical day at the office.

I liked the book but had mixed feelings.

It was a little difficult to not judge some characters in this book. For example, I think Gage could have fixed his life without being saved by prince Mason.

Mason did not seem to be controlling people with his money, but his character was a little inconsistent. There were a couple scenes that made me very upset. For example, the way he handled Gage’s lawyer. His behavior was controlling.

I felt their not-so-legal tactics could cause problems in prosecution and also in Gage getting full custody of his kid.

I choose this book for the narrator and he was awesome.
