Publisher's summary

I'm Paxton Wilder - motocross phenom & adrenaline junkie. I have more tattoos than scars. And I've never seen a stunt I couldn't pull off - or a girl I can't get off. Until she walks in. My new tutor is sexy, smart, more stubborn than I am, and 100 percent off limits.

That's right - the only rule this semester is "Don't Touch the Tutor". For the first time in my life, I want someone I can't have. She's the girl who obeys every rule. I'm the guy who breaks them. Our biggest risk is falling for each other, but I live for risk...

Intriguing action and a lot of great sexticipation

I enjoy books that work up to the sex, introducing the characters and working into a sexual frustration frenzy and then deliver with the description painting the picture in my mind. This book did that along with adding some mystery that wasn’t super predictable along with some that was. I also enjoyed reading both perspectives rather than only from one POV. The story was good and while the premise of falling in love with someone so different and semi-forbidden love is age old, this story provides a very modern twist. A bit predictable at times but there were surprises that kept me engaged.

Hits you with all the feels

This is one of those stories that definitely hits you with all the feels. There was plenty of action, a sexy and swoony Hero, a smart and strong heroine and a bit of mystery.
It is a great start to a series where you can’t help wanting to know more about all the supporting characters.
I listened to most of this on audiobook and really enjoyed the narration.

Renegade is a great name for this series

Renegade is a great name for the group these novels are written about! Lies are not great to tell and being cheated on and broken hearts suck but it’s great how all of the above turned out to be by fate and brought together a true Love/Loves!!! Another Spicy and action packed adventurous romance novel! I recommend this series for sure! I love Wilder and Leah!!

Exciting

I love the story line, the characters are so complex and interesting. The plot as always is unbelievable and there are always wow moments that I didn’t see at all. Can’t wait for the next books in the series.

I hoped for another 4th wing

It was fine, but not my favorite. I will likely listen to the rest of the series, however 4th wing by the same author was outstanding.

Difficult time finishing

DNF with 5 hours left to go...

I'm having a tough time finishing this book and I don't know if it's the narration, the story, or a combination of both. Probably a combination.

Leah is just so...annoying. She has a huge hang up about heights and risk taking, which is 100% understandable, but yet she can't stay away from someone whose literal job it is to take risk? It doesn't make any sense to me. Furthermore, her back and forth antics in regards to her feelings toward him are incredibly old by the time the 50% mark came around. Something will happen and it'll seem like she's finally going to go all in and then she's like, "no, I'm not ready." Enough already. She has very few redeeming qualities and even less in common with Paxton, so I'm failing to see why he still hung around.

Paxton was marginally better, but his constant ignoring of her fears was starting to drive me crazy. Then again, she kept letting him bully her into doing things she didn't want to, so in that regard it was both of their faults. I'm still trying to see why she never told Paxton about her trauma until he found out for himself. She had ample appropriate opportunity, but still just held it back. And don't even get me started on the place and overreaction to when she found out he knew. That was next level uncomfortable. However, that could also be because I was cringing so hard listening to the narrator scream that scene.

Which leads me to the narrators. I like Christian Fox. I've listened to a couple of books he's narrated and they're good, but he has an almost serene quality to his narration that doesn't jive very well with Paxton's persona. I think Jacob Morgan or Jason Clarke's rougher voices would have fit better with the character. That being said, Christian Fox is a great voice actor and his voice is very appealing, so it was fine. Lauren Sweet on the other hand, is one hell of a conundrum. Her dialogue voice is great; it's very animated and emotional. Her inner monologue voice though...is awful. It's boring and monotoned and so incredibly flat. She also has a slight lisp and an accent and neither worked for me. Her accent was kind of like Anne Hathaway's with the way she pronounces her A's (think Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada when she says "Paris" like Paaahris) and it drove me crazy listening to it. I don't think I'll be looking into any more of Lauren Sweet's narrations.

I picked this book up because I just finished reading another book from Rebecca Yarros that I really liked and she was a new to me author. I'm thinking I'll probably try one more because according to the reviews on Goodreads, this one was just a dud, but unfortunately I won't finish listening to this.
