Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Winter King comes a breathtaking new tale of love and adventure set in the mystical land of Mystral.

He wasn't supposed to choose her....

Seafaring prince Dilys Merimydion has been invited to court the three magical princesses of Summerlea. To eradicate the pirates threatening Calberna and to secure the power of the Sea Throne, Dilys vows to return home with a fierce warrior-queen as his bride. But politics has nothing to do with unexpected temptation.

She didn't dare wed him....

A weathermage like her sisters, Gabriella Coruscate's gentleness exemplifies the qualities of her season name, Summer. Yet her quiet poise conceals dangerous powers she cannot begin to wield. Better to live without excitement, she reasons, than risk her heart and lose control - until an irresistible Sealord jolts her awake with a thunderclap of raw desire.

Until evil threatens everything they hold dear....

When pirates kidnap Summer and her sisters, Dilys begins a desperate quest to save the woman he loves. Only by combining his command of the seas with the unleashed fury of Summer's formidable gifts can they defeat their brutal enemies and claim the most priceless victory of all: true love.

10 hours in and...

The female lead (Summer) is so annoying to me as a character it’s honestly hard for me to want to finish this book. She is overly dramatic thinking she can’t fall in love because she’s too ~intensely and unpredictably powerful~, and she’s supposedly extremely close to her sisters but keeps secrets from them for dumb ridiculous reasons, doesn’t listen to other people or common sense and honestly isn’t adventurous or exciting at all.

I loved the first book and I’m shocked at how this one is turning out. She lives her entire life not understanding her powers and when Dilas comes in and explains what she is and what it means she doesn’t believe him, doesn’t check into it, doesn’t consider his words or reconsider her own diagnosis (“my powers are so weird I mean literally everyone around me has different magical powers and can do insane shit but hmmm I’m probably just going crazy and I should prob kill my self”). Fuck off Summer, that’s all I have to say.

Also the writing is so long winded I had to speed up the narration just so I can finish this before I die. All this being said, I will probably read the next installment just because the other two sisters seem to have much more life and intelligence than Summer. Please let that be the case at least.

Another excellent listen from Wilson

As always, Wilson delivered another excellent story with wonderful world building, an exciting plot line, and sizzling romance. This is perhaps my favorite book of hers yet. The heroine struggles with the very contemporary theme of maintaining an outward facade of the calm, smiling female, and later must overcome a great trauma. It made for a protagonist with more depth than the average swooning, naive maiden in the romance drama. The performance was also excellent. A good listen for Sarah J Maas fans. Looking forward to the next installment!

Very fulfilling novel

I haven't been this fulfilled by a novel in quite some time probably since reading pride & prejudice along with the Winter King the 1st novel of this collection and Beneath a Scarlet Sky.... this author is a force to be reckoned with. Of course I have read many novels that measure up, but her style of writing is excellent and her words move you and make you feel the actual characters. I hate how they just categorize this book as just a romance. To me it's not as well as to a male friend I let listen in. He said the first book is just as good as GOT it have love, but war, and death as well. I have to agree, I feel as though it may be slightly better. I can't wait for the next book. Since there is a twist at the end I know there's one coming.

I really wanted to like this book.

the story was very predictable I wanted to like the main characters but the female came across as whiny and wishy-washy with too much power and the male came across as desperate.

Wilds is great

A great beach read! Read the Winter King first...Wilds does an excellent job narrating and making the different voices of the characters so you know who is who! Hoping for a third in this series!!

Wonderful amazing book

I've been waiting for this book for a very long time and I was not disappointed in the least it was well-thought-out well distributed the only complaint that I have is that there was something that happened then the story that I wish they would have clarified much much

The overall theme

Because I love the overall world and stories, this got a higher score. The waiting that summer made happen was excruciating to read through. I did not like the resolution (or lack there of )with the remaining seasons. Heather Wilds was awesome!
