Publisher's Summary

It was only supposed to be a vacation romance. Passionate, exciting - and short-lived. But when Jewel Henley arrived for her first day of work at a new job, she realized her exotic lover was in fact Piers Anetakis, her boss. A boss who had a strict rule about not getting involved with his employees. And so, just like that, Jewel was fired. With no money and no job, Jewel doubted it could get any worse. Then she discovered she was pregnant and that she'd have to confront Piers. Piers stormed back into her life with the same passion and intensity that had swept her off her feet five months before. But as loving as he was with her, she knew he still didn't trust her. And until he did, all they had was an affair.

Unexceptional

I'd hate to say "The Affair" was a waste of time but I couldn't identify with the characters. I really don't know why. It may have been the narration; the way it was presented or the content. I just couldn't relate.

A life changing one night stand

Moving to new places and not having a home is what Jewel Henley is used to. As she starts her new job on an island, she decides to throw caution to the wind and go home with the good looking stranger for a night of passion. When he turns out to be her boss, she is let go. Being homeless now, with no money she has decisions to make, and surprises that come her way has her cross paths with her handsome stranger, Piers, again. With a lot for the two to work out, and Piers's alpha, over protective ways, will the two be able to make a go of it? Meeting the rest of Piers's family is a treat, and I will go back and listen to their stories now too!

Lily Bask has a deep sultry voice and always creates an air of romance whenever she narrates. She gives this story that sound and keeps you interested in their story.

A mistake that brings forever

A one night stand changes their lives forever, but trust is a hard thing to earn with a man who has been burned before. I really enjoyed this book, it brought a smile to my face in the end.

A disappointment

I normally love Maya Banks' books. But this one was too far fetched and a real disappointment. So sorry Maya- still a fan.

The narrator ruined it for me

The narrator ruined the story for me. Her male voices sound like she has a sore throat and distracts too much. The story is nice and steamy. I read it on kindle format and liked it a lot but couldn’t finish the audible one.

Do any women in Maya Banks' books have spines?

Warning: spoilers.
I tried to like this book and I hoped that it would be better than the first two, where the men were terrible to the women and frankly never really redeemed themselves. And the women just took it! This one, however, took the cake. He unapologetically manipulated and cajoled her at every turn. He punished her for his own past that had nothing to do with her more than once. Like his brothers before him, he immediately jumped to conclusions without bothering to get the full story. I get the whole brooding hero concept but this went beyond that. I cannot recommend unless you want to find yourself screaming over and over "what is WRONG with you?! He didn't even actually apologize!"

Narration so so

The story has great promise, but only if an actual guy narrates Pearce' part. For someone who was described as being a good looking man, it was extremely difficult for me to believe that going on how the narration of him sounds, which to me, is awful. Pick a better narrator and you'll have a more believable lead man.

Love?

After 20 chapters of being pulled away and drawn toward love the happy ending was amazing as always when I read or listen to Maya Banks. You are amazing

Good story. Bad narrator.

Enjoyed the story but not the narrator. Did not enjoy the male voice, it sounded it had the flu or something.
