Publisher's Summary

One night of complete surrender is all it takes.

Gareth Harris is Manchester United's reclusive star defender. He has control over all aspects of his life. But a lifetime of supporting his siblings and filling in for an emotionally absent father has taken its toll.

Sloan Montgomery is a clothing stylist whose world was turned upside down when she found herself pregnant and moving to Manchester with a man who was never supposed to be her forever. Now recently divorced and struggling with shared custody of her daughter, control is a fleeting concept for this American living in England.

Both Gareth and Sloan are in need of a release. A moment in time where they can forget about their pasts and family pressures...and just...surrender. No one could predict what happens when both of their defences are down.

Surrender is part one of the Final Harris Brother Duet and concludes with Dominate. This duet is a great listen on its own, but to maximize enjoyment, check out the first three brothers books in Challenge, Endurance, and Keeper.

Wow!

Amazing listen! Full of passion, humor, and drama. I loved Sloan and Gareth’s story. The next part needs to hurry up and get here! Amazing narrators too, they brought the story to vivid life through the duet style of narration, different voices for each character, and so much emotion. An overall amazing listen that I highly recommend. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Such an emotional story

Surrender was such an emotional book to read and listen to. I will be honest and admit it knocked me hard as Gareth’s memories from his childhood struck me to the core. Having both my parents passed away when I was a child, I could certainly relate to the emotions and memories that plagued Gareth. When Gareth was reminiscing about his mother’s passing, the narrator did such an amazing job that I actually had trouble breathing; it took me back to my own experience.

This was probably my favourite book to date in the series, there was so much emotion and love throughout this story. It was also extremely steamy, hot and certainly ticked the boxes.

I do feel that you would perhaps get more enjoyment if you were to read the books in order but having said that it is not totally necessary as this can be read as a stand alone.

The story was well written, engaging and it was great to see the growth of both the main characters as the book evolved. Aiden is such a tortured character, always putting on an act, the life of the party, never wanting anyone to see below the surface. He feels unworthy of being loved and Cami is bound and determined to show him how much he deserves to be loved and to love.

There is so much to love about her characters, the depth and layers that she weaves throughout her stories reminds me of peeling an onion, layer by layer and Surrender was just such a book.

I have no idea if the author wrote from experience but all I can say is Amy Daws nailed it. Both the narrators were superb and I cannot wait to read/listen to Dominate which concludes Gareth's story.

Impressive

I was really surprised by the content on this novel. I think as women we tend to lose ourselves in the people and situations around us and forget that we matter too. I think Daws really captured that and gave us a hint of what reclaiming who we can be like without feeling like we must do it on our own. But believe that there is a love out there who have our best interest at heart despite what our past wants us to believe.

Dominating my heart

Oh my gawd Gareth is now my favorite Harris brother! My heart is all his after this story I’m left in pieces and surrendered it all willingly. Amy has given this story her all. Literally nothing could top the sweet and sad and all of the emotions in between she has given us. The narration is spot on with bringing these characters to life and making you fall in love with each and every one of them.

Harris Perection

Gareth and Sloan are through with denying and surrendering to fate. Sloan upended everything to follow her husband to London. When she learns of his less and fidelitic ways she is heartbroken and left trying rebuild as they truly only married for the sake of her pregnancy. Thankfully she has her stylist career to fall back on as the unrepentant snake showed no remorse whatsoever. When she shows up at Gareth’s place with his clothes, he can instantly tell something is amiss with her no matter how much she tries to protest and keep it professional. Gareth has always been the Harris rock. After his mom, his dad basically checked out leaving him and Vi to take the reins while his dad lost himself. He has his hands full with his family and his team which leaves him little time for much else. When Sloan comes in clearly out of sorts he knows he cannot let it lie especially when he notices her ever present wedding ring missing. This Harris installment is filled with passion, depth, and family we have come to know and love but this is part one of the duet so buckle up for the cliffhanger!

Sexy sports romance with complex MCs

Let me start off with my favorite technical aspects of this audiobook. There are 3 narrators- 2 female and 1 male. This is a first for me. We have the hero (british accent), the heroine (american accent) and the 3rd narrator is for other british female voices. Also a first for me is that the male narrator does ALL the male voices and the females do the female voices. You would think this would be a given but actually every other audiobook I've listened to will have the male narrator talk in a feminine voice during the chapters with male POV and vice versa for the female POV. In this book, all the narrators appeared to have recorded together which was FABULOUS! It makes for such a great listening experience.

So now, onto the actual story. This is my first Harris brother book so I'm just meeting Gareth but I instantly loved him! From the moment I met him, I could sense the loneliness and brokenness in this sexy football player. He was also super humble and sweet and his love for his family was clear as day. He has been a rock for his siblings for so long and he has had to be strong for everyone in his life. Now it's his time to let go. This is where Sloan comes into the picture. One night of dominance and submission gives both Sloan and Gareth exactly what they need.

Sloan feels like she is losing control in her life as she goes through a messy divorce and custody battle. With Gareth she gets to take control, even if it's for a little while in the bedroom. What starts off as just a fling escalates into so much more and I just loved these two together. Sloan and Gareth are both such strong people that have each gone through so many struggles. There is a give and take in their relationship that they are both able to benefit from and they just fit perfectly together.

And gah! That ending! I knew this ended in a cliffy but that came out of nowhere and I was not expecting an ending like THAT!

Couldn't have been more perfect!

Amy Daws and her beautiful and emotional writing, the Harris brothers, those handsome, sexy footballers that have turned my head from the very start, and probably my favorite narrator out there with the most delicious British accent, Will M. Watt: What an explosive, magnificent mix! This was perfection from the first second to the last. Just… OMG! Oh, and did I mention that it’s duet narration? Seriously, this one has all the goodies I could ever wish for, as has the rest of this series. But SURRENDER has two, well, three things, the previous ones didn’t have: For one, it has the wonderfully talented Piper Goodeve lending her voice to Sloan, our American heroine, but it has also special appearances by the amazing Charlotte Fouche, who portrays the British female characters, as previously (did I mention I absolutely love this one??), and last but not least, it has a freaking cliffhanger!! Yep, you read that right, Gareth’s, the oldest Harris brother’s story, is not a standalone but a duet! Gaahh!! I’m elated and frustrated… all at once. Frustrated, because I didn’t expect it (nope, I didn’t read the synopsis, I never do with books by my favorite authors), elated, because I’m not yet ready to see the Harris brothers go…

Sooo… Gareth. Gareth has been somewhat elusive throughout his brothers’ stories. There’s not really much you know about him. At all. Well, apart from the fact that he isn’t collecting his fair share of notches in the bedpost like his teammates do – like you expect from a successful bachelor athlete like him – and that, different from his brothers, he is playing for Manchester. An enigma, but now it’s finally his time to shine!

And boy, there’s so much to this man that we couldn’t have dreamed of if we tried. It’s beautiful, it ugly, it’s different, and it’s definitely heartbreaking. Gareth surprised me, more than once (as did that freaking ending! But I digress…), and in Sloan he has found his perfect match.

Reaching the end of this book, there was still so much left unsaid, so many questions not answered, that the feeling in my stomach grew that this wouldn’t be the end to their tale. And then came the sledgehammer. And then it DID end! I mean, really??? Yeah, I still have one or the other bone to pick with Gareth Harris… keeping secrets like that…

DOMINATE cannot come soon enough!!

Fantastic!!

This audio scores maximum stars on every single level. The story itself, written sofluently and convincingly, is well paced and engrossing. The narration, by Will Watt, Piper Goodeve (what an amazing name!!) and Charlotte Cole, is a masterclass in duet presentation. There are no pauses or weird changes of tone which can constantly pull you out of the story. It is seamless and beautifully done. Emotions, humour, story telling, are all of the best quality. A truly class act!!

A must listen

This is a great story I enjoyed listening very much. This is my first Harris Brothers book I have book one in my library so will be my next listen. The story follows Gareth a English Football player for Manchester United and Sloan his stylist. Sloan has a pig for a husband and when he does the unthinkable Sloan goes at it alone. Her relationship with Gareth turns hot and heavy but both are just looking for fun with no strings. I loved that this was a duet as I feel it brought the story to life. Will Watt is just the perfect male he did a fantastic job with the more London accent. Piper Goodeve has a voice I could listen to all day but I just loved Charlotte Cole she did all the female British parts and she was amazing she made me laugh a few times. I am looking forward to listening to the first books as you got to meet the rest of the brothers so I want to know each characters story. This story is left on a huge cliffhanger but I believe the next part is out very soon so not so bad. I really enjoyed the story and am glad I have been introduced to the Harris Brothers. A very enjoyable listen.
