Publisher's summary

Accountant and financial advisor Lacey Chamberlain doesn't consider herself a control freak. She's merely a planner-orderly, neat, and content in her tidy little life. When a marketing firm moves into the empty office next door, the loud-music-playing, stinky-food-ordering, kickball-in-the-hall staff make Lacey crazy.

Marketing expert Alicia Wright is spontaneous, flies by the seat of her pants, and lives in the moment-all the things Lacey is not. She's also gorgeous, thoughtful, and seems determined to make Lacey like her.

They say opposites attract, but for how long? And is that really a good idea?

Narrator woes!!!

It's so frustrating when your favorite author is paired with one of your least favorite narrators. When it happens twice!?...
Paige McKinney's unwaveringly sunshine-y sing-song cadence is just such a bad choice for romance. Add to that the fact that she emphasizes every. single. word. We all know that if you stress every word then you're actually stressing none. All you're doing is making a 1 syllable word into a 5 syllable word: juuuuusssssst. I had to speed the narration up to 1:25 just to be able to get through it.
Please. Isn't there some nursery rhyme books that she can narrate instead of spoiling the work of my favorite authors. She'd be perfect for Mother Goose.

Good story, easy read

Not going to go down as a favorite of mine in the Georgia Beers collection but it was good. The characteristics were perfectly flawed in all the right ways, and supporting staff was great. Loved the dog. Always love the dog. Did this one via audiobook, and struggled with the performance rating. There is nothing but good work that comes out of Paige McKinney. I just think with folks like Betsy Zaijko, Emily Beresford, Lisa Cordileone, Abby Craden, Eva Kaminsky, and Nicole Zanzarella, who all have various forms of edge we have come to know, it's hard for me to let so much "sunshine voice" into these stories. I liked Georgia's narration of Starting From Scratch a lot too. Call me closed minded and let the hate begin if it must. Call Eva Christensen, something.

Great story/?narration

As a fan of GB, the story line and characters were GREAT but the setting didn’t grab me. Most of it takes place in an office building and there were repetitive descriptions of the office next door as well as the careless driver in the parking lot.
The narration was so “sing-song-y” - meaning unnecessarily EXCESSIVE in terms of expressiveness - where syllables had 2 or 3 modulations in tone, many times for words for which ANY extra expressiveness was overkill. Some female voices were unnaturally high and saccharine. I even tried upping the speed bc I found the tone of voice SO distracting and unnecessarily flowery. Would recommend the book but also recommend that you LISTEN to a sample FIRST to make sure the narration doesn’t detract. Try THE SECRET POND if you’re visual and want a read that flows naturally, paints beautiful imagery and has lovely, characters with deep connections.

Excellent Audio!

I really enjoyed Right Here, Right Now. Great story of Lacy, the quiet accountant meets Alicia, marketing boss. They dance around the dating, friendship part for quite a while. Paige McKinney does an excellent job with the narration.

Speed it up, fixes all.

Speed up the narrator to 1.5 or 2 and it’s so much better. Story is great.

Calm, typical romance, but lesbian

Good read, light, not heavy romance which was beautifully refreshing for lesbian literature. I recommend this to women who want to hear about a calm romance without political, familial, or spiritual drama. scenes of intimacy were classy. enjoy

Whiney

The main character is whiney and boring. You know more about her daily schedule than the potential love interest. I've read other books by this author and was pleased, but not with this book.

Hmmmm

Such a looooooooong build up and such a very short wrap up left me a little disappointed. Not my favorite book. The narrator did a good job but I had to listen on 1.25 speed so I didn’t get bored. Seemed like there was just too much air space between words at regular speed.

Another good one from GB!!

Overall great book!! I really enjoyed the characters and their strange quirks. It was fun to watch the two fall for each other and the struggles each went through to get there. Georgia Beers is excellent at conveying emotions in characters. There were moments of pure heartbreak and I felt each and every hurt right along with them. On top of a good love story, the characters were funny! I caught myself chuckling out loud many times throughout the book. Iam a GB fan and this book didnt disappoint!

Super slow and dull

What a bust! I've read other books by this author that I really liked but this one was so slow. The characters lacked depth and everything was overly explained and so focused on logical decisions that made the book boring. I kept hoping to would get better but it was a flop.
