Worthy of a credit for a Dannika Dark fan

Dannika Dark has two previous series, both of which are a part of the paranormal world she has built and are excellent. This is the second book of the Crossbreed series, which is a spinoff of her Mageri series. I enjoyed this particular book because of my familiarity and longtime loyalty to the three series.

However, I was disappointed because the mystery in the story was so obvious and easily solved, and it took her very bright characters far too long to come to the same conclusion. The development of the relationships in the book are also moving at an arctic pace. I'm hoping the next book picks up a little bit because the world and the characters are there and waiting to run in the authors next story.

The narrator is always outstanding !

5/5-great series--a MUST READ

Dannika Dark Bk 1-Keystone- was a great start to a new series--It totally set character, plot, time, and place. It was a start to the whole new world and how it worked.

Bk 2- Ravenheart---What a continuation. The same character but now you know them and see the comradely grow. I don't want to spoil this adventure/ murder/ paranormal diamond amongst the books you can buy. More action in this story--more understandings--more fun--and yes more questions to be answered. The perfect series that leads you into the next book.

I was impressed with the narration of Nicole Poole. Her ability at voices and accents enhance this complex story with many individual characters that intertwine to make Keystone work.

Comment to authror-Dannika Dark---I can't wait to see what comes of John in future novels.

An Average Sequel with Little Romance

If you're open to just getting to know the characters introduced in Book 1 of this series a little better via a murder mystery, this is probably worth your time. However, this book on it's own isn't super great. The story is incredibly predictable and not all that mysterious, and the lack of foresight and deductive reasoning within the cast of characters is pretty astounding. Raven did show some growth as a female protagonist from the first book in that she was a bit more mature albeit not very perceptive. This book is also considered a paranormal romance, and I would put a checkmark next to paranormal but definitely not romance. There are merely hints at a possible romance, and, ultimately, too much carrot-dangling without reward for the second time in a row.

I continue to find Nicole Poole's narration good enough but not outstanding. I'd give her three-and-a-half stars if that were an option.

I recommend this book to fans of the series or Dannika Dark, but that's it. There's better out there for people looking for a solid paranormal romance.

The wait for Book 3 will be torture!

Any additional comments?

I'm really loving this series, and its characters. Of course, I have loved Christian since being introduced to him in the Mageri series (in fact, he may have been my all-time favorite from that series), but I really like Raven, too. I am also growing fond of the other Keystone members, too, though some could certainly stand to be further developed, as they are just a few shades beyond being two-dimensional. Overall, though, they are a fun bunch, whom I can't wait to continue getting to know!

5 Ravenheart Stars!

I quiet enjoyed the first book, you get to know the world and how the story is going to work. So we have the bones of what this series is going to be.

So with the second book we are already familiar with the characters.
I am a Raven and Christian fan!! But I also love Gem and Nico, and, and, and lol ok I love em all.

This one was filled with so much mystery and action and who done it.
I quiet liked the sexual tension ridding a lot of the characters. But what I love the most was the comradery between all the teammates of Keystone.

Raven and Christian really start to get to know each other and their partnership really is starting to become just that a partnership.
I like the back and forth they have and the tension they have makes you want more, more, more.

I like that Raven is starting to feel welcome with Keystone so much so that she is making her space her own. And she is learning to trust the other members of her the team.

I again will shout it from the roof, I love Nicole Poole's narration is every book I have listened to. She makes you feel a part of the story. I loved this book with her narration because she does give each person their own voice. And I am sure that can't be easy with so many characters but she always manages to do it flawlessly.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

LOVING THIS SERIES

With a strong Urban Fantasy feel laced with some sexual tension, Ravenheart is an entertaining read (or in my case listen). This second installment in Dark's Crossbreed series flow seamlessly from the first book and my enjoyment never lagged. Raven Black is a very clearly defined lead character. Black's snark, confidence and concern for her moral compass makes her story compelling. Black is still doing a lot of self discovery and continues to learn more about herself and abilities as a half mage - half vampire. Becoming more self aware and accepting of that part of her she has mostly ignored, character growth is where it is at! The author provided a few glimpses of Black's vulnerabilities and things she never really experienced in her life. Peaking into this aspect of Black really intrigued me.

The group which makes up Keystone adds a lot of diversity and contrast throughout the story, creating an addictive world. Tension between Christian Poe and Raven Black provides something that is a little unexpected with its subtle, yet clear romantic edge. The mystery conflict in each book take precedent overall, but the secondary push and pull of Poe and Black is a great addition to the world. Their similarities did not go unnoticed nor are they subtle and honestly it is a nice contrast to so many of the traditional "opposites attract" kind of relationships.

Narration: Nicole Poole provides an excellent performance in Ravenheart. The voices and accents were consistent from the first book. I think one of the hardest things to pull off is a strong female character with snark. So many times they end up sounding whiny or too snide during narration. Poole nails the snark without making it feel forced. Bottom line..she nails it.

all around excellence

I adore the narrator Nicole Poole who can enfuse life into the characters and has such a soothing voice.

But as always Dannika Dark writes books that are rich and addictive like dark chocolate for my brain. She has a way of putting together such complex characters with true love stories interwoven through many books unlike most flat romance stories or adventure/mysteries with some romantic interest thrown in. It's almost like a genre unto itself. Most people don't write about love anymore, and romance as a genre has become tawdry. But there is longing, belonging, friendship, and rightness that reminds me of Jane Eyre in some ways but with a modern twist that breaks down old mores and feels more realistic.

Awesome - loved reading every word!

The second instalment and even more enjoyable if at all possible. Can't wait to see how the next book teases us with Christian and Raven fumbling into caring and love?
