Publisher's Summary

A sizzling new stand-alone contemporary romance by New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Katy Evans.

A bad boy with something to prove. A woman with a mission. The race of their lives. The love of a lifetime.

I don't think his parents expected him to live up to his name - Racer Tate - but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him - make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart-wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I'm the one. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time, until it's gone.

Fantastic!!!!

LOVED this book! Racer was everything! If you loved Remy - you'll love Racer. The chemistry between these characters was fantastic! Racer knows what he wants the moment he sees it and goes after what is his - I loved him so much! I loved everything about this book! Perfect narration!

4.5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!

I haven't read the Real series prior to this so I can positively say that this is a standalone. However being the book whore that I am, I will be reading the previous books. I need to know more about Remington and the other characters mentioned in this book.
So I recently read Moto by M. Never and this book had some similarities in the beginning. In Moto, there are racers but of the motorcycle kind. Racers nonetheless. We also have Kayla (Moto), like Lana (Racer), who refuses to get involved with racers albeit different reasons. Then we have Reese in Moto who is a racer with health concerns just like Racer Tate. While they're different in nature, there is still that similarity. That is where it ends though.
It was a bit of dejavu in the beginning of the book and a bit hard to get into this story with all the comparisons I had floating around my head. I powered through and when I got passed it all, I devoured this book.
It was shocking when Racer's condition comes to light. He is flawed but beautifully so. You will not be able to help but fall for him. Lana was fun, sweet, and her actions when things are out in the open made me love her all the more.
You want to know what made this book for me. The narrators. Sebastian York and Grace Grant nailed the characters. You gotta love SebYo!
Katy Evans is a fave of mine and I look forward to delving deeper into the Real series.

WHEN THE NAME FITS THE PERSON 😊😉👏💝💋

This book had me at hello, and kept me from beginning to end. She crashed into his car, he fell in love at first sight with racing action all in between wow definitely a keeper.💕💞

Ohh He is a Tate!

What made the experience of listening to Racer the most enjoyable?

The storyline in itself kept me listening! I love the story and the chemistry! The narrators did a bang up job as well!!

Have you listened to any of Sebastian York and Grace Grant ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've heard Sebastian before in other books and love listening to him. This is the first time I heard Grace and would love to listen to her again! They did awesome together!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!!

Fantastic!

I loved it, immensely. I had misgivings about spending my money on it after reading some bad reviews which were disappointing. Boy, was I wrong. So were those reviews in my mind. At first, my thoughts were that they are so young. However as the story emerges and I saw the level of maturity that did not matter. The story in some parts reminded me of the his parents story which I loved. But this was so captivating and fun to listen to. It was also touching when he was battling his bout with Bi-polar in the hospital. But the fact that his girl stepped up to help him through it even though he did not want her to see him like that was encouraging. Lana's love, loyalty and devotion to her family was also admirable. She gave her all to help her ailing father's dream come through. She withstood her brothers teasing and just about help in all areas without any thought for herself. The appearance of Remy, and the brief glimpses of their friends, umm, what can I say, I loved those characters. Katy Evans do not fail in giving us likeable and memorable characters. Let's not forget to comment on the narrators. Grace Grant is a regular with Katy Evans books and I have gotten used to her style of narration. She still does a wonderful job. Sebastian York is also a regular, even though I have gotten tired of his voice in so many books, he still does a great job. He is powerful at portraying his characters. Racer was fantastic, the rides, the characters, and the story itself. At the end, I felt like I was in stands cheering him on at the finals in Abu Dhabi. I felt like I could imagine myself screaming with the fans and cheering on Racer. I could not stop smiling, and that's how I like my happy endings. :) Money well spent.

An OK Read...

There was so much potential with this book! I felt there were just too many missed opportunities. I kept waiting for the drama. The stage was set for it. A crash, drama with the other top driver, relationship issues.... but, nothing! The races all went relatively smoothly, the big win st the end came easy, relationship drama was mediocre, and all tension just fizzled to nothing.
Katy is fantastic with steam. Sexy times were HOT!
I just wish Racer had more of his own story. Besides being a car racer, Everything pretty much followed the exact same recipe as Remy's story. Same teases in bed without sex, same traveling in airplanes while sharing music, same instalove at just one look at the heroine. Even the same medical issues! I felt that Katy just duplicated what she had before in her previous books.
Heroine drove me a little nuts with all the crying. Seriously, she cried several times in nearly every chapter.

Wanted to like this...the narrator was a mismatch

REAL was so good but this was like the same story swap fighting for boxing with less chemistry.

The female narrator only made it worse. Her voice especially when speaking the male perspective was awful.

Liked it very much!!

Aside from the amazing narration from both Sebastian York and Grace Grant, this story was very engaging and you couldnt help but want to cheer for Racer and Lana. The interpretation was solid and the way the scenes in the racetrack were narrated made it that more interesting. Really enjoyed this audio.

A huge disappointment

I LOVED the Real books, and was excited about this book as it follows up Racer’s story (Remy Tate’s son all grown up). But it’s awful! It’s like Katy Evans had written an advanced draft (not even the final draft), then they rushed it to publication without proof reading or editor changes. It’s like a poor imitation of the original stories. Continuity errors, sentences that aren’t completed and a series of scenes pieced together without someone checking that it made sense as a whole. Real shame too as with a bit more work I reckon this could have been good, but instead it left me hugely disappointed. What a waste.

Sebastian York was fantastic (as always) and Grace Grant is ok. I can’t help but wonder if they noticed the poor quality when they narrated it too.

Disappointed

I was really looking forward to this as I love love love Remy and Brooke. I usually like Grace Grant too, but in this one she misses the mark. Her narration seems scatty and detached. The storyline just didn't grab me - it felt forced and I forced my way through to the end. I just didn't care about the characters. It was all a bit blah. Nothing like the Real series.
