Twenty essays on Irish women, historical and contemporary, who have defied cultural norms around femininity and achieved great things. The subjects include Irish women from Queen Medb to Eileen Gray, from Constance Markievicz to Sonia O’Sullivan, covering stateswomen, artists, writers, activists and rebels of all kinds.
Written by multi-award-winning author and first Laureate na nÓg (Irish Children’s Laureate) Siobhán Parkinson. Perfect for use in schools as well as for leisure listening, this collection celebrates the role of women in Ireland’s changing society.

I had heard of many of the women in this book, but not all of them.
This really was interesting and diverse group of women, all having one thing in common, they are Irish.
I really enjoyed the book and the narration.
Just under 4 1/2 hours, it is a very easy listen in one day.
Each of the stories is rather short, under 15 minutes and the four narrators also make this book an enjoyable listen.
I learned a lot from this Book.
