Nearly 40 years ago.

Looking for a good read without too many complications and just a touch of romance, I found this thirty-nine-year old (first published 8/28/1986) book of Ms. Roberts. I so enjoy her romantic suspense novels. As I began listening I was thrown back into my middle twenties. What a trip! Many things have changed since then and I found myself shaking my head and groaning at the dialogue and the behavior at times. Quite interesting. I do know I like Ms. Roberts' writing but do not appreciate it from nearly 4o years ago as I enjoy it today.

Gabra Zackman as narrator did a fine job.

Story line

The right amount of intrigue mixed with romance. A good balance! Also I loved the tropical location

Formulaic and old-school

Hate to see a man run rough-shod over a woman who allows it. His behavior is unacceptable by any kind of modern standard. The story is good enough, though entirely predictable. The performance was pretty good but the Spanish accents were a bit painful. Overall this was ok but I won’t be listening again.

A little slow.

It was a lot slower moving and not as interesting as most of her books.

Not the best book from Ms. Roberts

I have quite a few books by this author in my library and recently added this story to my collection. I really didn't find this to be very interesting or exciting. I thought the lead characters were kind of bland and the story itself was a bit of a yawn.
I usually love books by this author but sadly not this one. I doubt I will ever reread it.
