Publisher's summary

Ford “Truck” Laughlin and Mary Weston have weathered their share of storms over the last couple years. Truck’s job, Mary’s health. His bossiness, her bitchiness. All while dancing around their intense attraction. Mary’s tried to push him away for his own good but Truck won’t let her give up…on herself or on them. Just when she decides they deserve a fair shot, disaster strikes.

Truck has wanted Mary since the moment he saw her. The prickly woman pushes all his buttons and looks beyond his scarred exterior, something few women have managed. His plan to take their relationship to the next level is stalled when he’s injured on a mission. And he’s barely feeling like his old self again before the couple is dealt another blow, one that could permanently end their chances…and their lives.

*Rescuing Mary is the 9th book in the Delta Force Heroes series. Usually my books are stand-alones, but in this case, I feel you would get more enjoyment out of the story if you listened to the other books first, since Mary and Truck’s relationship evolves throughout the series. If nothing else, I recommend listening to the first book in the series, Rescuing Rayne, where their relationship began.

Worth the wait

All of Susan’s books are amazing. Tank and Mary’s story was a long time coming but definitely worth the wait.

It had you laughing, crying, sitting on the edge and loving the entire book. As usual you can’t put it down until you are finished.

This book is a great read

Enjoy.

Brilliant!

This story was the BEST Susan Stoker book ever!!! It was simply brilliant how she brought all her book together and finished a series yet set you up for the future books that are coming out
The story is brilliant. The epilogues are epic. The narrator is perfect If I could give it 10 stars it still would not be enough!!

Such a disappointment!!!

Somehow the long awaited story of Mary and Truck just didn't deliver. The story was too blah, blah, blah.
The last chapter tells you how the future goes for each couple, but why introduce Ford's sister and the Colonel? They are just not relevant to the book.
None of this series had the pull that the first book Rescuing Rayne had.
By the end of this book i was just tired of it and the series.

Read it to get the end of the series, but not one of her best.

Worth the wait!

I have been interested in the Truck/Mary story since I listened to Rescuing Rayne and it was everything I hoped for and more. I am a huge fan of Susan Stoker and love how she can keep it so fresh after so many books and series. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Good book, except for the last chapter.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when an author uses adoption as device to an HEA. As an adoptee and adoption reform activist, it pains me when I read outdated adoption mythologies recited in a romance book. First, adoption does not fix infertility. Its a means to grow a family, but the infertility will always be there. Its imperative that couples get couseling for infertility before seeking adoption- because the infertility is still there, it doesn't magically go away. Second, cutting corners in adoption is a kin to trafficking. Third, international adoption is not always whats best for a child. Many children are not truly orphans, and there is a lot of corruption in international adoption. Loosing ones culture, language, and home country are traumatizing- Adoptees carry a 4x higher risk than the population for Suicide, this is even higher in international adoptees per a Swedish study which found a significant increase over domestic adoptees which is 4x greater already. Fourth, please remove GOD and 'meant to be
' from the adoption narrative- In order for one family to be formed through adoption, one must first be destroyed. The basis of adoption is loss- and I wish that authors would treat it with the sensitivity that it deserves. It absolutely messes with the mind of an adoptee to hear that loosing your first family was 'god's will' or 'meant to be'. As well as the 'you need to show gratitude' for being adopted myth. The truth about adoption is this, adoptees fall into higher risk categories than their peers for: Suicide, Eating Disorders, Substance abuse, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Issues, Increaed risk of harm or death living with non-related people, Depression, and a A shorter Life Span- while only making up 3% of the population. Adoption for an adoptee means you will have many increased risk factors, and it's a disadvantage. As an adoptee, the act of adoption erased my first identity- I was dropped into a life with strangers and told to 'blend'- babies are not blank slates, and mothers are not interchangeable without trauma. Adoption is very much like being in the witness protection program unwillingly, new identity, new name, new location, new parents, new birth certificate and so on. And lastly, adoption doesn't provide a "better life" it can only guarantee a "different life" - quality is a very subjective aspect and adoption cannot guarantee it- its a fallacy to state otherwise. - studies in fact show the opposite for adoptees (see above risk factors).
So please authors, please attempt to be more sensitive and treat adoption a modern updated way. I am speaking specifically to infant adoption and international adoption - not foster care.

LOVED IT !!!!!!!

I don't usually take the time to comment on the many books I listen to but I could not let this book go by without a mention. I couldn't wait for this book to finally be available. It was well worth waiting for. I loved the series and this story just brought everything together and then some. A great story and a great ending to the series. I couldn't stop thinking about the book when I finished listening to it. That does not usually happen for me. This is a book I will listen to again.
