The Elves of Lessa, Book 1

In a land where humans and elves find it difficult to communicate, Tari—an elf—is bound to Captain Arion—a human military officer—in a ceremony designed to promote friendship between the two races. A light and corny Romantasy

This is a light read, with a note of humor and little depth. It’s kind of slow and corny… and the “love” is very sudden, which makes the relationship feel underdeveloped… But as far as romantasies go, it’s engaging and entertaining enough.

Magiford fans will likely be disappointed, but it’s worth the read if you have the right expectations going in.

There is no foul language or sex, and the violence is minimal. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. There is magic. There is no mention of faith or God.

Great narration

It’s been awhile since I’ve read this book and it was delightful to listen to this audio book of it. The narrators nailed the characters. I can’t wait for Royal Magic to come out!

Spunky Elf bonded to a taciturn human

Tari is a strong and spunky elf who gets tied by magic to the very serious Arion. Though their magical bond allows them to communicate, the cultural differences between them provide plenty of opportunities for misunderstanding and learning that communication is more than just understanding words, but also meaning. I greatly enjoyed the story, the narrators, and the HEA. The situations were engaging and banter cracked me up. I appreciate that the world building was present throughout the book and the story was not slowed down by it. Tari gets three of Arion’s subordinates to help her practice the human language and they are definitely my favorite secondary characters with the humor and antics. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next one in the series. It was so good I’ve already listened to it twice and stayed up past bedtime to finish it.

I adore this story!! it is beautifully written, The characters are endearing, I could feel the emotions of the characters. It's a beautiful no spice love story. I do wish we got more from the perspective of Orion, and I think the world building could use some more detail. it's absolutely gorgeous overall.
