Publisher's Summary

If you have a daughter, it would be surprising if she doesn't struggle with anxiety and worry - either in short episodes or for longer periods. For a variety of reasons, childhood anxiety rates are soaring, especially among girls. Today's parents need to know what contributes to anxiety and worry and how they can empower their daughters to overcome troubling emotions.

In this immensely practical book, veteran counselor Sissy Goff shares how you can instill bravery and strength in your daughter. Addressing common age-specific issues, Goff gives you the tools to help you and your child understand why her brain is often working against her when she starts to worry, and what she can do to fight back. With your help, she will find the anchoring truth of God's strong, safe love for her and the confidence she needs to thrive.

Thank You....A Million Times Over

I absolutely loved this book. It finally addressed issues specifically and gave honest, truthful and helpful ways to conquer and even prevent worry in my daughter. It addressed not only what she needed to do and not do, but also what I needed to do or not do to help her. I am so glad that someone recommended this book to me.

Not what I was expecting

Personally, I did not find myself loving this book.. I did take a few things from it.. like dealing with my daughters worry monster & helping her cope with her fears.. but I felt this book was more geared to promoting therapy in children just because they worry. I found the numerous references to the Bible not pertinent to the information I was looking for. I was hoping for more examples of things kids worry about with more solutions on how to redirect those concerns at home. I am sure this book has reached a lot of people and that I may be on my own here, but this book did not give me the insight that I was looking for. I think this book would be better suited as a read for those who have girls in counseling or parents looking to counsel their girls.. not so much a book on “how to raise worry free girls” because I didn’t get this message from the book. I got a “girls need counseling, if they are worriers” kind of message.

Encouraging Read

I couldn’t be happier that I purchased this book because now that I’ve listened to it, I will most likely listen to it again and again as my girls grow. I found the first few chapters a little overwhelming, as she talked about so many different anxieties. I began to wonder if any children could ever be okay. But I then found myself in tears in Part Two, wishing my own parents had a tool like this book to help them understand me when I was a child - one who had experienced trauma they didn’t know about and as a result wasn’t the “normal” kid they expected me to be. Sissy’s suggestions on how to empower girls to overcome rather than to suppress their big feelings is exactly what I want for my girls. This book will be a tool we can use in our home as they grow and I pray we’ll see them understand how smart, brave, and loved they truly are.

SO practical and spot on

This book is to the point, chock full of practical tools and strategies, and Biblical wisdom! I don’t have girls, but I have a 5 year old son who struggles with worry and fear. This is totally applicable to helping him and so many of the strategies and truths were helpful to me as a grown woman. I have so much hope after reading this book that there are actually things I can do to walk alongside my son and strengthen his ability to fight back against his worry, rather than just constantly feel like I’m having to answer his anxious questions and reassure him. Thank you Sissy Goff for this book!!

Religious guidance included

I missed that this is "christian audio" publishers.
Some very good advice included although I would like to raise a confident resilient girl who can rely on themselves, not look outside themselves to a deity for confidence.
This should be advertised as a book including religious beliefs.
