Omen is back and he's bringing his cat!!

Book two is a fantastic novel. In many ways it stands on its own, having a lot of new characters, and some reappearances of old ones. It could easily be read on its own, and it would survive on its own merits.

The tale picks up with Omen and Tormy finally getting a do a quest! To bad it is aquest that leads him on a search for a missing sibling who may just be out of his mind and in a place that will seriously impede Omen's powers. Seriously, what's a guy to do? Carol E. Leever & Camilla Ochlan really do know how to put a story together (I'm always impressed with writing teams), and their ability to craft a story that flows and has relevence is just amazing. Thankfully, we do see character growth in Omen, and the pace of the story is perfect, no slow spots, no dull breaks, it moves like a river in the spring, swollen and swift, ready to drag you under if you aren't careful. Omen and Templar's interactions were very entertaining, and perhaps my favorite part of the book.

Ochlan returns (thankfully) for the second installment, and it seems like he has grown along with Omen, as it reaaly feels as if he is adding some more depth to the characters. I love listening him, I hope he plans on sticking around for even more books, as it seems Omen's tale is really just beginning. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

a complicated tale of loyalty and magic

This is the further adventures of Omen and his talking cat, Tormy. It is a sequel of sorts, in that some of the characters introduced in the first volume continue and there is some reference to them in the second volume. But far more detail is given to Omen’s family and new characters. It easily stands alone, though you may want to listen to the first volume first to understand the back references better.

Omen is given a quest by his mysterious older brother to rescue their long-forgotten brother in a ruined land. Omen’s magic powers are subdued in this other realm and he has to use his wits, education and Tormy’s help to rescue his god-like brother. Their lost brother has been in this ruined land for many years, perhaps centuries with no one to keep him company but the ghosts he sees and communicates with. His mind may be warped beyond repair and only Omen and Tormy vow to save him regardless of his possible affliction. A whole race of elves may suffer extermination if they can’t.

Radiation is a complicated tale of loyalty and magic. During the story, we get a lot more information about Omen’s family and his place in it. His close friend, the prince of Hex makes an appearance but is mostly out of the story until the battles begin. As with the first book, it is a fun story well suited for a young adult audience, with youthful heroes, magic, talking creatures and exciting, but less-than-frightening battles.

The story is performed by P. J. Ochlan, who is just brilliant. His voice is smooth as silk and infinitely malleable to the many characters. The lighthearted tone of the story comes through just right for the young adult listener, but enjoyable for adults as well. The character voices are all easily differentiated and appropriate for each. Certainly, any listener’s favorite will be the cute, deadly kitten and his identical twin (who is not identical at all) with a Scottish accent. How fun is that?

It is a fun and exciting fantasy novel geared for a young audience, but adults should enjoy it as well. Perhaps not quite as fresh as the first volume; it is still highly entertaining and well worth a listen. The novel stands alone and is only part of a series in the sense that the main characters return for further adventures.

Feel good surprise book series

Honestly the whole idea of cats and dragons makes me cringe a little inside. The narrator does a beautiful job and the writers consistently pull out a nice story that leaves you feeling good. I can’t exactly explain it, it’s like a fluff book you can’t help but like inside a little more than you would admit -lol good job C&D team 👍🏻

Fantastic book!!

I didn’t think I would be compelled to read the whole series, but after reading & hearing the first few books, I must go on. The book was engaging from beginning to end. The two cats are so endearing I can’t get enough of them. They are hands down, my favorite characters. This book contained all the elements of a great sci-fi series. For me, it was a breath of fresh air, despite the violence, evil, etc that is common in this genre. I found myself excited, fearful, angry, suspicious, relieved, happy, intrigued, lol often, saying awww a lot & being on the edge of my seat waiting for an event to come to its conclusion. I completely enjoyed this book & im about to sign off & start the next book in the series. I recommend this book without hesitation!!

Cats and dragons! Who wouldn't love it?

I love the humor, and the randomness that many of the characters have. I'll be really sad when this series ends.

Extremely entertaininga

I love the narrator for this series. HIs voices (especially the kittens) keep me invested in the story and in the case of the kittens, very amused. This a solid YA story that has interesting and surprising characters. I look forward to the next in the series.

Took a bit

So, while this did not start out as my favorite in the series, it has a bittersweet charm to it. I enjoyed it overall. Please listen/read at least into the 4th chapter before deciding whether to continue or not. You won’t be disappointed. Loved learning more about the Sun Dragons and Learning more about Omen and his family. Enjoy!
