Publisher's Summary

A sizzling new stand-alone contemporary romance by New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Katy Evans.

A bad boy with something to prove. A woman with a mission. The race of their lives. The love of a lifetime.

I don't think his parents expected him to live up to his name - Racer Tate - but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him - make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart-wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I'm the one. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time, until it's gone.

Fantastic!!!!

LOVED this book! Racer was everything! If you loved Remy - you'll love Racer. The chemistry between these characters was fantastic! Racer knows what he wants the moment he sees it and goes after what is his - I loved him so much! I loved everything about this book! Perfect narration!

Gotta love SebYo!

4.5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!

I haven't read the Real series prior to this so I can positively say that this is a standalone. However being the book whore that I am, I will be reading the previous books. I need to know more about Remington and the other characters mentioned in this book.
So I recently read Moto by M. Never and this book had some similarities in the beginning. In Moto, there are racers but of the motorcycle kind. Racers nonetheless. We also have Kayla (Moto), like Lana (Racer), who refuses to get involved with racers albeit different reasons. Then we have Reese in Moto who is a racer with health concerns just like Racer Tate. While they're different in nature, there is still that similarity. That is where it ends though.
It was a bit of dejavu in the beginning of the book and a bit hard to get into this story with all the comparisons I had floating around my head. I powered through and when I got passed it all, I devoured this book.
It was shocking when Racer's condition comes to light. He is flawed but beautifully so. You will not be able to help but fall for him. Lana was fun, sweet, and her actions when things are out in the open made me love her all the more.
You want to know what made this book for me. The narrators. Sebastian York and Grace Grant nailed the characters. You gotta love SebYo!
Katy Evans is a fave of mine and I look forward to delving deeper into the Real series.

Okay...

I liked the story, but the female narrator let the book down. She talked too fast and was way too stiff for the book. Sebastian York is always good though, so that made up for a bit of the horribleness of the females voice. I’m not sure if I’d recommend using a credit on this one.

So Disappointed With The Narrator

I have all of Katy Evans books. I adore her writing. I loved the Real series on audio so I didn’t think twice purchasing Racer. I’ve got several other audio books narrated by Sebastian York, and he’s fantastic. But I hate admitting this, the female narrator ruined the story for me. Her voice was fine when she was reading for Lana, but when she read as Racer it was like somebody switched the playback to slow motion. It sounded ridiculous and it was really off-putting & annoying. Especially since everything else was great. I’m honestly really surprised Audible would release a book like this. I don’t know if Katy Evans had any say but if I were her I’d be so ticked off because I’m not the only one that noticed this from the reviews I’ve been reading. I bought the audiobook right when it became available so there weren’t any real reviews to read as a warning. I absolutely won’t waste money on another audiobook she narrates after hearing this one. I’m sorry, but i just can’t believe no one heard her sounding so deep voices and SLOW. Omg, so slow! It really spoiled the story for me.

So dissapointed!

This book could be absolutely amazing but unfortunately the female narrator absolutely ruins it! My recommendation is a do over with another female narrator. So disappoined :(

Omfg!! Racer!

Omfg!! Racer! I never in million years thought Katy Evans could outdo Remy! But shit, she did it! She stole my soul and captured my heart! Without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read! There are not enough stars in the world to say, how extraordinary good Racer is!!
.“Tell me who you want here.
Who keeps you awake at night.
Who you think of every second of the day.”.
Racer is a devastatingly beautiful, heart-stopping, eternal work of art!
That will penetrate every fiber of your bringing! Having you clinging to every syllable, to every word! All while pulling you in more and more!! Entrapping you into Racers world! The depth, the despair, the love and lusciousness of it all! Will have you lost! Losing yourself in the storyline! Heaving by the magnet pulls it has on you! Like a force of nature, it is unreal! A breathtaking world wind of heart-stopping, storytelling at its very best!!! A++++
Plus the narration was out of this world!!!!

Racer, Racer

Really good story, I just wish it was a duel narration, Grace Grant makes Racer sound terrible. It was still a good listen and worth the credit....

So in love with this book!

So I have followed this series and love every book of it but somehow missed the release of Racer so I am just getting around to it...crazy I know...but I have to say that I love it just as much as the rest. I live the hints of other past characters and seeing Racer all grown up. Then there is Lana who couldn’t be more perfect for him and watching the struggles and achievements the handled together. It was like having Remy 2.0 but with a twist to make it unique.

Racer Tate is an illegal street racer and he is at the top of his world, or so he thought. When a beautiful, strong woman runs into him, damaging his beloved mustang, he begins to realize how much more he wants. But he wasn’t prepared for her to offer him all that and so much more.

Lana is desperately trying to find the miracle her family needs for their racing team. When she went to go watch the qualifier, she never expected to literally crash into that miracle. But now she has a hot head on her hands that holds not only her future but the racing team’s future in his hands.

A huge disappointment

I LOVED the Real books, and was excited about this book as it follows up Racer’s story (Remy Tate’s son all grown up). But it’s awful! It’s like Katy Evans had written an advanced draft (not even the final draft), then they rushed it to publication without proof reading or editor changes. It’s like a poor imitation of the original stories. Continuity errors, sentences that aren’t completed and a series of scenes pieced together without someone checking that it made sense as a whole. Real shame too as with a bit more work I reckon this could have been good, but instead it left me hugely disappointed. What a waste.

Sebastian York was fantastic (as always) and Grace Grant is ok. I can’t help but wonder if they noticed the poor quality when they narrated it too.

Trite and repetitive

I like the author as a whole, but this book was not good. The story was super repetitive, the characters were thin and the story itself was not well constructed. I only kept at it in the hopes the BP would be protracted respectively - I was, however brief - but other than that, not worth the money I spent on it.

Wow

This book has you from the first word to the last, his insistence that she is the one, his determination to be the best at everything he does, her belief in him and them. Just wow. Loved the narration as well.

Disappointed

I was really looking forward to this as I love love love Remy and Brooke. I usually like Grace Grant too, but in this one she misses the mark. Her narration seems scatty and detached. The storyline just didn't grab me - it felt forced and I forced my way through to the end. I just didn't care about the characters. It was all a bit blah. Nothing like the Real series.
