Publisher's summary

You wake up floating. Not in the air, but horizontally in a coffin-sized chamber filled with blue gelatinous fluid. You do not remember what this is. You do not remember why you are here. You do not remember who you are.

This is how it begins: Select-Your-Destiny™, a storytelling experience that places the listener directly in the action by giving them the power to choose what happens. The narrator describes the circumstances, and once a Destiny Node is reached, the listener chooses what happens next. The narrator narrates, the listener chooses. That is how it has always worked—until now.

In this story, the listener chooses to team up with the narrator, collaborating on what shape the story will take. A story of an unnamed teen who must piece together what’s going on after waking from suspended animation in a vacant bunker deep underground without memory. With each twist and turn, each Destiny Node, the listener and narrator begin to recover what was lost. What comes to light will transform them both.

as annoying as talking to answering service

it may or may not be a good idea, but the thing does not hear or understand my replies. I say: free myself. it tesponds: no, I have not seen that movie...
I tried 3 times, and all 3 times the same thing. I have better results with my banks phone system....

Bad mechanics

I’m not sure if this is a choose your own adventure or not. None of the commands I have worked. I had hope for some fun reminiscent of the childhood style books but the AI is absolutely atrocious. I listened on my Powerbeats Pro headset and nothing worked. It’s so terrible. Fix this garbage. It’s terrible. Or it’s preset and not at all a choose your own story.

....Wow....

I needed something short to take a break from an extended, intricate, Sci Fi series. Project Kawayan was selected on a whim, as it looked interesting. I didn't expect to be cleverly immersed in, what I see as, the meat of humanity's failures as a species. (Re: selfishness & the "other"/tribalism) You're certainly not overwhelmed by it, but it's vividly there. Should be required reading for every human 12≤ y/o, with discussions to follow.

Great Listen

I was momentarily disappointed that this wasn't actually an interactive story, but it's a very well made story with layers of questions for the curious to ponder.

A terrible attempt

supposed to be interactive but isn't. narrative taking turns opposite to reader's choices. patronizing narrator. and above all, both presumptuous and boring.

LITRPG if it where a "choose your own adventure"

and then ended with a cliff hanger because per the story, it's better to let the listener decide the ending.

This is an audiobook, not interactive. The listener has only one choice, "stop listening" which the book literally taunts you to do.

Amazing immersion but choices don’t work

I love the storyline but its hard to choose my own adventure when my choices aren’t accepted.

Horrible speech-to-text

The “novel” gives you smartass comments when it doesn’t understand speech that is _literally_ what it offered as choices. Good idea gone bad.

First 20 minutes were weak

I suggest removing the nonexistent reader/choices. The ending leaves you feeling like you wanted 3 hours. Should always be free. Please never charge people a credit for this

Come on Audible readers, use your brains!

I really didn’t care much for this story but felt I had to at least give it an overall 4 star review to make up for so many reviewers slamming this title due to the “interactive choices” being “broken”. It is an audio book! It is not interactive! It is a story about an interactive adventure and the choices the narrator makes. You are the listener! The choices you yell at your phone or iPad do not matter! Nothing is broken!!!!
