Story
Conventional accounting uses the logical (albeit, flawed) formula: Sales - Expenses = Profit. The problem is, businesses are run by humans, and humans aren't always logical. Serial entrepreneur Mike Michalowicz has developed a behavioral approach to accounting to flip the formula: Sales - Profit = Expenses. Just as the most effective weight loss strategy is to limit portions by using smaller plates, Michalowicz shows that by taking profit first and apportioning only what remains for expenses, entrepreneurs will transform their businesses from cash-eating monsters to profitable cash cows.

Investing in your future is easier than you think—discover how and achieve financial security more quickly than you can possibly imagine. Young adults are especially financially vulnerable because they’re just starting out, want a lot of “stuff,” and are not earning the big bucks yet. So, they’re borrowing too much and saving too little (if at all), and they’re in a financial mess. But it doesn’t have to be like that. Instead, imagine a life where you have peace of mind, because your financial affairs are in order, and you’re on the right path to building wealth.

IFS reveals how the subpersonalities or "parts" of each individual's psyche relate to each other like members of a family, and how - just as in a family - polarization among parts can lead to emotional suffering. IFS originator Richard Schwartz and master clinician Martha Sweezy explain core concepts and provide practical guidelines for implementing IFS with clients who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, and other behavioral problems.

Research suggests that the presence of the therapist, and how the therapist truly forges a connection with the client in therapy, are the most crucial factors affecting the client’s healing process. An engaged, committed, caring therapist who is mindful of his or her own self - and how that self relates to the client - is the key determinant of how well that client will respond to therapy.

Through client stories and case studies, powerful frameworks, and simple tips, she lays out a clear path to profitability.
In this book, you will learn how to:
- Implement profit first in your therapy practice, step by step.
- Determine spending guidelines for various stages of private practice
- Scale your space, your people, and your leadership positions.
- Manage clinician compensation, your group practice's largest expense.
No matter the size of your practice, or whether you've heard of Profit First, this book will give you the tools you need to stop worrying about money and achieve financial freedom.

Since you were old enough to hold a job, you've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by blindly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent financial gamble that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative.

Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, treating men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias in time, money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates the shocking root cause of gender inequality and research in Invisible Women.

Best Investment in my New Business
I never took an Accounting class in college. so of course, the most intimidating thing about starting my new business has been figuring out how to think about the money.
The framework Julie presents is clear and easy to understand. I feel far more comfortable and prepared just after listening to the audio book. Julie's narrative is not only clear, but she is supportive and empathetic. Her client and personal stories makes the content approachable and practical. Not what I expected in a book about accounting in the best possible way. I feel better prepared and more confident after listening and I'm looking forward to taking the assessment and implementing the system.

So much information!
This is the best book I've "read" on business management for therapists. However, it covers such a broad expanse of possible business combinations, there is a lot that I didn't need. I looked for chapter titles so I could skip to what I did need to know but couldn't find them. To save time, I'd love to see separate audio book or chapter readings for specific business configurations; solo practitioners, group practices, solo-preneurs with multiple businesses, etc. The parts that I did need as a solo practitioner were game changers so no complaints there!
