Novella in the Private/Jack Morgan series

James Patterson releases books at the rate of approximately one per month. Most have coauthors. He has a large number of series and with well over 200 million books sold he holds the all time record among authors. The problem is of all of his novels I have read or listened to during the last 20 years I have not found even one that honestly deserves 5 stars.

This novella is part of the Private series of suspense thrillers. Private is a worldwide detective agency owned and operated by Jack Morgan. It is also part of Patterson's BookShots series of approximately 70 mostly two to three hour novellas that cover a wide range of genres. All of the BookShots are drastically over priced.

Private:The Royals is a suspense thriller consistent with the 12 novels in the series. Really excellent narration keeps this novella from getting 1 star.

Only 24 Hours

Jack has done some investigation for wealthy people before but in this book he is hired by the Royal family. Someone has kidnaped one of the members of the Royal family and is threatening to execute them for everyone to see. Jack and his Private team are pressed with only 24 hours to stop this horrible crime from happening. This book is short but sweet, it will keep you on the edge of your seat for every chapter.

Royally Disappointing

I am a huge Patterson fan. I have been enjoying the “private“ series. At least til now. This story however is hugely disappointing and trite. The characters are shallow. The action is weak. Overall, I was highly disappointed. I am hoping that the other book that I bought, “princess“ is not like this one.

I've read better. It wasn't about what I thought i

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I don't care for accent of narrator. I'm sure others love it but I was annoyed by it.

If you’ve listened to books by James Patterson and Rees Jones before, how does this one compare?

Don't know. Don't remember if I have.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jay Snyder and Christian Coulson ?

Someone without this accent.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No. It did not interest me.

Any additional comments?

None at all.

fun and short!

I like that the book shots are short enough to enjoy in one sitting buy long enough to allow for some good story development. enough twists and turns to satisfy.
