3.5 stars - Good Dark Story with a Great Narrator!

I'm on the fence with this one. There were things I really liked and some that I didn't like as much. I do enjoy a dark romance book, I do even enjoy a kidnapping, I do enjoy a Anti-Hero! This book had all of those things. I spent most of the book convinced I knew what was happening and in the end I was right but the author did have me questioning it a lot through out the book. I had a little bit of a hard time with how Kyle reacted to the imprisonment, I needed her to be a little more freaked out by it and I needed her to be at least a little scared but instead she acted like she was just curious. The biggest oddity for me was how no matter what they did to her, she was all about having sex when it was over, I guess I couldn't really see that as realistic. I liked the twists and turns the author added to this story even though they were obvious instead of surprising.

Garin was a contradiction for sure. He was mad at her for lying but he was lying. He wanted her to come clean when he had no plans to come clean. He said he loved her and would protect her but who exactly was he protecting her from... the way I see it, she needed protection from him. In the end I gave this book 3.5 stars, it was better than average and had me intrigued from the beginning but it left me feeling a little flat in the end.

The narration was AMAZING! Aaron Shedlock is a great narrator and he was a great choice for this story.Since this is a Dual POV I probably would have liked dual narration a little better but it didn't take away from the story at all.

3.5 Dark and Twisty Stars

It is about to get real, I tell you what I had NO earthly idea what I was getting into with this book and wow is it all kinds of dark and twisty.

I had an idea about this story and how everything was going to go down but it just never grasped hold but I was right in the end.

I like dark and twisty so for a good part of the book I was hooked then a few things happened and even my dark and twisty took a step back. But what kept me going was the narration.

Aaron just had a tone that soothes you and makes you take notice of what is going on. I very much liked his female tone that he uses, because then it makes his male character even that more lush to listen to.

Horrible!!

Where do I began?? Why is she having sex, willingly, every other day while locked in a cell and being tortured. She was unbelievably weak and stupid. Who thinks about sex in that situation. She was also naive. She didn't think Garin would be hurt if she didn't give up the killer's identity. Then she told everything after seeing him hurt. The writing was not good and the story was infuriating.

Prisoned

Prisoned is a dark and twisted with a complex plot. A different story that isn't close to anything I ever listened/read. Told in dual pov a second chance mafia romance standalone novel. The characters jump through hoops till the end to get their hea. I loved getting a prologue and the timeline history which it flows easy. A intriguing & suspenseful listen about two childhood best friends meeting up again.

Narator Aaron Shedlock is the perfect choice for a dark story narator. However, in this case the story is told in dual pov and the naration by one narator is a bit of a disappointment. Aaron is perfect for the male pov but I wish a female was chosen to narate the female parts especially since alot of the story is told in the female's pov. Aaron's inflection is very deep and gravely which is great for this performance.

Dark, dark, DARK!

This story is full of twists and turns. I'm probably too impatient and so I was infuriated, being teased again and again and not being given the information I wanted until about 80% in— and by this point I'd already guessed it correctly. If this were an ebook, I would have "cheated" and read ahead just to find out and then have gone back to the beginning.

This is one dark story— so dark that I didn't expect it not to end with a HEA. I was very happily mistaken! Anthony got what he deserved, and that makes the story end in one satisfyingly high note.

Aaron Shedlock did a terrific job narrating, I just think it would have been better if there was a female narrator to read Kyle's chapters.

Prisoned is a second-chance contemporary mafia romance written in dual POV. It's an angsty standalone that ends with a HEA and deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering. No cliffhanger, no cheating.

Abuse Lover manifest

I like books that tell a different story. Books that address different paths to love. I even like dark and twisted but this book missed the mark for me. It true that in most books the heroine has to be somewhat naive to make the story interesting. However, in this book I found the heroine downright stupid. Her reasoning never made sense to me. Some of the circumstances that she choose to have sex under are concerning and I found myself thinking about how gross and unsexy the scene must be. There is no Hero in this book Gerin is a liar and an abuser. The couple's story lacks love and is only about a Big D and rough sex. I guess sometimes that's all you need. The narration was good but since most of the story was from the female POV I feel it would have came across better with duet or female narrator.

Ugh!!

Loved the plot,story,& author,but the reader KILLED EVERYTHING for me. Immediately,the flow alone crashed this book for me.

This book had the potential to be amazing! If only I hadn't guessed what the twist was right from the start. It seemed so obvious to me. I'm not sure I'm just that good, or if the story was written in a way that gave it away. Either way, because of that, it lost it's luster. I feel like it could be great for someone who didn't figure it out though.

The book is written with dual point of views, and switches between past and present quite often. Even with those things, the single narrator of the audiobook did a great job of keeping me engaged.
