The fact that some of these reviews are marking this book down bc it was republished, is a shame. Being a stupid B1tc4 who doesn’t read a summary on the book before purchasing and then marking it down in the reviews is trash can behavior.

This book is amazing, the narrator is great (like always) and the story gave me anxiety. I usually have a hard time guessing Karin Slaughter books and this one is no exception. Read the book.

She writes so well, I couldn’t stop listening. Definitely need to read a feel good book next and should probably go to church.

gutwrenching

Karin writes incredible stories and this one does not disappoint. The way Sam writes to his daugter breaks my heart. makes me miss my own dad.

Loved it!

This was my first intro to Karin Slaughter and I really enjoyed it! There were a few parts that could definitely make some people squeamish, but I’m a true crime and horror junkie so it didn’t bother me too much. There were also times where the story dragged a bit, but overall it was fantastic and I definitely recommend giving this one a listen!

That was intense!!!

First, the narrator is so good- not too loud or soft, unless the dialogue calls for it, and puts all the feelings (and drawl) exactly where they need to be to completely immerse you in the story.

Second, I could not put this down. Not just to try and solve the mysteries, but because the writing was so compelling that I did not want to leave these characters. It’s rare that I experience that.

Third, the violence IS graphic (comparable to the Toy Box Killer, IMO) but not constant. You can generally tell when it’s coming so if you’re inclined to skip some descriptions, it’s pretty easy to time them correctly.

If you like suspense or mysteries and can deal with the graphic violence (or are resolved to skip through those parts) I would HIGHLY recommend this book, narrator and author!
