Some better than others

This book was ok, some of the stories contained within were way better written and voice acted than others. What I did enjoy was that unblooded Predators were several levels below their more experienced older counter parts and it showed.

Fun listen

I enjoyed most of the stories. A problem I found was that some writers stretched things a bit. One story with Predators going after 2 people who defeated some nearly a decade earlier was one. How did these Predators find them? How did the information get to them? Then a Predator prisoner forced in illegal fight in outer space. A rescue party shows up. How they did they find him? That was balanced out with a possible reason for why General Stonewall Jackson was shot by one of his own men during the Civil War among the other stories. This is a book that most can enjoy.

For the Love of Predator

This is a totally biased review since I love Predator and all things Predator. These stories are short and sweet and packed with all the things people love about Predator. There are 16 short stories ranging in time and space. A must read/listen for Predator fans.

Great Listen

Great idea. 16 stories all worth listening to. Hope there is more like these in the future. Expand it into Aliens vs Predators vs Humans

Fun Stories involving Ya-ucha (Predator)

I enjoyed almost every story. I am generally not a fan of short story collections, but this one was irresistible. We get to see Stone wall Jackson face these perfect hunters! Each story feels like a real historical antidote documenting the human encounters with this relentless foe.

I elect to keep my review short so I don't let any spoilers slip! If you are a fan of the Predator world of movies, books, and the occasional bloodbath, then this is the book for you. It's also convenient that each chapter starts a new story.

Predator: If It Bleeds

I don’t write many reviews but in this case I must say that I really enjoyed this book with all the short stories. They were all excellent. I want more!

MEH

Some stories were good; some not. Some narrators were good; some not. A few of the stories definitely should be made into full length novels. The story involving Fernando was hilarious! I wish that one was full-length. All in all, most of the stories were lame. Not worth the $.

2 stars because I had to round up.

Another poor quality anthology with stories feeling like they were phoned in by the contributing authors. It seems that most of the short stories were quick and clunky narratives with very little desire to stick with predator lore. It felt as if the authors changed Yautja lore to fit their story premise,  and as such made the stories feel less viable.

I gave each short story it's own rating of 1-5 stars, along with a personal blurb for each one.

DEVIL DOGS by Tim Lebbon
** Only because of the Colonial Marines. Would have given 3 stars, but the marines came across as pussies.

STONEWALL'S LAST STAND by Jeremy Robinson
** Civil War premise could have been fantastic. Union soldiers fighting a Yautja while Atlanta burned world have been fun. This story...not so much.

REMATCH by Steve Perry
* Not enough background to make the listener care. Everybody, including the Yautja, were two-dimensional.

MAY BLOOD PAVE MY WAY HOME by Weston Ochse
* A story that will make your readers/listeners daydream about what good stories are about.

STORM BLOOD by Peter J. Wacks and David Boop
* meh...who cares. Couldn't keep the narrative straight, and having it take place during Katrina just seemed like low-hanging fruit.

LAST REPORT FROM THE KSS PSYCHOPOMP by Jennifer Brozek
* Couldn't make this story and its characters less interesting if the authors tried.

SKELD'S KEEP by S. D. Perry
*** Had possibilities but lacked in development and understanding of  "Viking" culture. Up to this point was the best story.

INDIGENOUS SPECIES by Kevin J. Anderson
* A pointless story full of glaring Yautja inaccuracies. Plus, Anderson should know how devastating a "plasma" rifle should be to any life form.

BLOOD AND SAND by Mira Grant
* Yautja "beats up meanie mcmeanie aunt and uncle." Such a sub-par story.

TIN WARRIORS by John Shirley
*** Kind of fun in a very basic way.

THREE SPARKS by Larry Correia
**** Best story yet! Would have been 5 stars but the final conversation was pointless and didn't serve to act as a fitting resolution for the story.

THE PILOT by Andrew Mayne
*** Nice little story with a fun twist. The ending suffered a bit, but all in all I liked the tale.

BUFFALO JUMP by Wendy N. Wagner
* DEAR GOD SHOOT ME NOW AND MAKE THE PAIN STOP!!!

DRUG WAR by Bryan Thomas Schmidt and Holly Roberds
* Cheap theatrics using established characters in the Canon to move a silly and uninteresting story along. Couldn't find a care about anything in this story.

RECON by Dayton Ward
*** Of course there had to be a Vietnam story. I did like how the author incorporated the Tet Offensive into the story, but mostly how he brought the Yautja honor code into play.  Rough, but enjoyable.

GAMEWORLD by Jonathan Maberry
**** A truly exciting, fun, developed and predictable story. Loved the ending.

Well Produced.

Good narrations, fun to listen. Most stories are well written and entertaining. Narrators show their experience and enjoyment in reading the material.

A mix of good and okay

Some stories were great, while others were mediocre. storyteller was fine. Only a few parts added to the lore. It honestly felt like being read potential scripts. No regrets though.

Surprising!!!!!

I didn’t think I’d like this after first listening to it until I realised the stories were Predator encounters with humans throughout time and then each story made sense, so to speak, and then very enjoyable. The narrators are brilliant. I could happily listen to a lot more of this kind of aAudible book. Thanks!

A superb series of Predator tales.

it is obvious that the various authors of the short stories in this book have watched Predator 1 & 2 and genuinely understand why the Yautja are iconic. Each tale is standalone, detailed and enthralling. Vikings, Samurai, Vietnam and the near future, all are covered and covered well. Even a certain world-weary LA cop makes a showing.
I love it and I'd love it more if the segments could be filmed. Then P1&2 might actually have sequels worthy of unironic mention.

Decent read.

Enjoyed the first 15 of 17 chapters.
Every chapter has a different narrator and most are good but the final two chapters narrators were irritating.

He said, she said …

When I was in primary school, I remember having an English lesson in which our teacher showed us how to create alternatives to ‘he said, ‘she said’ when writing stories. If you listen to Tim Lebbon’s Predator story (contained in this audiobook) you’ll notice that Tim missed that English lesson. That annoyance aside, this is an excellent compilation of Predator stories.

If ur a fan..

Fans of the predator franchise, fear not. This is absolute gold. Some stories are short and fun, others are more in depth but the quality and attention to detail and commitment to cannon/story telling makes each one a joy. A gross, unnerving joy. Some touched on..or expanded established stories and others are entirely new. Some take in the view points of the Yautja and some are only told from the the humans perspective but all are well done. I think putting the predators in various times in history is the best way to explore what is otherwise a fairly routine tale..they come, they hunt, they slay or get beaten. It’s most entertaining when the people outwit or match the hunters rather than the outright mass death. Anyway..a great listen for short car rides and commutes.

Slow burner but hot flame!

I guess the joy of many short stories is you get just that.
I really enjoyed every story, and I found it best with a decent break between each, to help digest the previous story and theme.
The narrators were good and the change of story paces were engaging.
