Get your shovel and let's go digging

This story involves an interesting topic to me, that of digging up artifacts of the Native Americans. My dad volunteered on a dig near our home and was allowed to keep several arrowheads and other artifacts because they found so many. I like to imagine, and it's hard to image, these people that lived here before my time.

The value of these artifacts, in many cases, is priceless and it boggles my mind that in TX they can go right out to their backyard and dig some up. That's really the heart of the story. Except that the digging is like poaching, the diggers don't have permission from the property owner. But, hey, these plots of land are so huge who is going to notice?

Other elements wind through the telling of this tale convoluting the mystery of who and why a man was murdered.

Of course, we have our comic relief team and the game warden and sheriff teams to keep us entertained.

seeing red

This story has me all kinds of mad!! So many people got away with crimes and cover ups, that it had me seeing red!!! Avery was an opportunist who moved from one man to the next and seemed to have little to no conscience. Her partner in crime needed a come uppance that didn't come. I'm just furious. On to the next book. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Billy Don is so deceptively 'dumb' , this showed him at his best.

Which character – as performed by Johnny Peppers – was your favorite?

Johnny Peppers was the best narrator of them all, it's easy to recognize the change in characters before they are identified. Robert King Ross has a great voice but I enjoyed Johnny's interpretation best.

Any additional comments?

Ben Rehder is a great author and his books translate into audio perfectly. I read them all in ebook format, and was thrilled when I found them all as audio.

Point Taken

It really is incredible how so many things can be tied up to one main case. A murder leads to so much trouble on top of the obvious and watching it all unfold is so entertaining. This book is my favorite one so far in this series.

POINT TAKEN

This is another good book in this series. John Marlin is the game warden. This puts me in mind of Joe Pickett and Mike Bowditch. I like books about Game Wardens. This book held my interest. There's someone digging artifacts where there not supposed to be. Also someone is selling meat that is makes people sick. There is some humor in theses stories. I liked the side characters. I would love to see a book where John and Mike or Joe would work together on a case. Johnny Peppers does a great job narrating this book.
