Enchanting!

I re-listen to this book twice every year. Once in the cold of winter sitting in front of a fire sipping a glass of port, and once in the summer by the swimming pool enjoying raspberry lemonade. It’s that kind of book!

A wonderful reading

I’ve had a paperback copy of this book sitting around for ages, but never got around to reading it. How glad I am that I decided to listen to it instead. Peter Mayle’s own narration really brings this story alive. I am not done listening but I find it full of humor and heart. Just a gem~

first part very good, second a slightly less

overall, great book!
as a preamble, I am a French born in Provence. I was curious about what Englishmen had to say about my country.
I have to say the author embraced the life over there. a lot of stuff are true, although these events happened in the 80. life has changed there now.

the first part of the book is great. the second part a little less, too much food talks. but overall, strong recommendation .

Excellent

I had read these books many years ago, and loved them. I decided to give to audiobook a try for my long, daily commute. I was delighted with the narration, and the story really made me forget that I was stuck in New England in the winter. I could almost feel the sunshine of Provence!

What can I say but that I adore Peter Mayle’s mind his sense of humor and his gift of storytelling.
Having just been to Provence, I laughed hardly at many of his antidotes and descriptions of the local folk and their traditions. I just love Peter Mayle
If you’re going to Provo or anywhere in the south of France, you need to read this book

Relaxing and light hearted read

If Provence is, in fact the warm, endearing place Peter Mayle has portrayed in his books then I am ready to pack up and move there tomorrow.

The chapters are almost complete in themselves, in the way of James Herriot's books, and so are easily read and easily put down again.

The characters are realistic, and Mayle's dry British humor is delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed these books and hope others will, too!

What made the experience of listening to Peter Mayle's Provence: Including 'A Year in Provence' and 'Toujours Provence' the most enjoyable?

I've listened to Peter Mayle's "French Lessons" three times and now I'm headed toward listen No. 2 of "Provence." Few writers are as clever and witty in that lovely English way as Mayle is, and few make the French such delightful characters when just being themselves. Highly recommended book.
