Publisher's Summary

My past taught me to play it safe. To stay far away from handsome men who promised it all. My life was good without them. Stable, secure, predictable.

But one kiss showed me that I’d been playing it safe for far too long. One night, and all I wanted was more of his wildfire. One challenge and my carefully constructed walls tumbled down.

Amid the rubble, I realized there was more to this man than I ever dreamed. When everything fell apart, he showed me what it meant to stay. How to truly live.

But some demons don’t stay buried. The past can come knocking when you least expect. And the life he’s showing me might be shorter than either of us expected....

Beautiful Enemies-to-Lovers Story

"One day, this woman would see herself as I did. Strong because she’d been broken. Loving because she’d been hurt. Perfect in all of her imperfections." Review: This is book 2 in the Wrecked series. Catherine once again pulled me in and hooked me with the Prologue. I couldn't put the book down after that! I could feel the chemistry between Kenna and Crosby in Reckless Memories so I couldn't wait for their book. Kenna is the straight laced hardworking accountant who lives by the rules. She has endured so much, but her strength and loyalty for those she loves truly shines. Crosby is the town Lawyer who lives for adventure. The carefree guy out for a thrill, but there's more to him than meets the eye. Kenna and Crosby are opposites in every way. Crosby just loves to get under Kenna's skin anytime he can. Their banter and back and forth kept me laughing. I fell hard for these two. I laughed, I cried and I swooned so sooo hard. Crosby is an amazing man with a heart of gold. Pretty sure he is my favorite man in this series. Their mutual friend Harriet was such an amazing surrogate Grandma to Kenna and I immediately loved her. I was raised by my grandma so I could really relate. Harriet played such a special role in each of their lives. As these two help each other, they begin to break down each others walls making the most beautiful story. These two together are a force to be reckon with and pure magic. I absolutely love that we get to see Bell and Ford and that they are still so involved in Kenna's story. Just one of the many things I'm loving about this series! I listened to the audiobook by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell. Both did a great job bringing Crosby and Kenna to life! Joe was able to give Crosby that carefree yet loving personality. Maxine brought Kenna's straight laced workaholic, yet tender broken heart together perfectly. Do not miss this one!

Beautiful story!!

Perfect Wreckage is the small town romance my heart craved. I absolutely loved this beautiful book. Catherine Cowles drew me in from the very beginning. With a strong, resilient heroine, a swoon-worthy hero and their undeniable connection, there is no doubt in my mind, Perfect Wreckage deserves more than 5 stars.

Kenna is my favorite Catherine Cowles heroine. She's strong, kind and dedicated. She had endured so much emotional and physical pain from people who should have cared for her. Leaving her understandably guarded and striving for safety and stability. Crosby is totally swoon-worthy. I love him so much. He's so much more than the laid back lawyer we met in Reckless Memories. Every time he interacted with Zoe, a nine year old girl in the foster system, my heart melted.

I love Kenna and Crosby together so much! They compliment each other so well. Their banter was so entertaining and the chemistry between them radiated off the page. He helps her live a freer less guarded life and she shows him what a real relationship should look like.

The narration was as brilliant as the story Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden do a phenomenal job pulling all the emotions out of me. It was just magic in my ears.

A Beautifully Emotional Journey

You first meet Kenna and Crosby in bk 1, Reckless Memories. He loves to tease her and she's able to give just as good as she gets. You feel the attraction and the chemistry between them that you want to know more about them, and book 2 delivers.

Kenna has always been abandoned by those she loved. First her mother, then her boyfriend. So it's no surprise that she's built a wall around her heart to avoid being hurt again. She has however built a support system consisting of her two besties, Bell and Caelyn. Crosby is a lawyer on the island who has also suffered blows in the relationship arena - his fiance and his parents, both of which feel status is more important than true love. So, he is not looking for a forever kind of relationship.

Kenna & Crosby are brought together through tragedy and it's Maxine Mitchell's portrayal that had me in all the feels. She brought such raw emotion to Kenna that I felt her loss and her pain. Joe Arden is great at being funny in his banter yet able to shift to his serious side when supporting Kenna

I loved Kenna & Crosby's story so much. Their HEA is hard-fought and well deserved.

Kenna and Crosby!

I loved Perfect Wreckage by Catherine Cowles. This is book 2 in the Wrecked Series and is narrated by one of my favorite narrator power couples, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell.

This books tells the story of Kenna and Crosby. Kenna had a difficult childhood being raised by the grandmother of her high school boyfriend Grant. Kenna adored Harriet after her mother basically left her. Grant and Kenna were high school sweet hearts and were in love, until the summer before they left for college. Grant broke up with Kenna, and Kenna had secrets of her own. Years past and Kenna is an account on Anchor and lives with guest house at the Gables with Harriet. Crosby is a lawyer that has moved to town from Boston, and helps Harriet manage her estate. Neither Crosby or Kenna want something series, but then life throws you a curve ball.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell put so much passion and emotion into their performances. I adore Maxine Mitchell's "male" voice, and find it absolutely irresistible. Joe Arden was the perfect Crosby showcasing his lighthearted attitude with a compassionate personality. They never disappoint!

Overall, I enjoyed Perfect Wreckage. I may have even liked it a little better than Reckless Memories. Cowles does a fantastic job writing deep, emotional characters, and adding a touch of suspense to keep the plot moving. Looking forward to Wrecked Palace next!

Angsty, humor, swoon and suspense

Perfect Wreckage was a perfect blend of angst, humor, swoon and suspense.

Kenna has lots to overcome. She is a strong heroine who always finds a way to rise above the obstacles that life has put in her way.
Crosby is super protective but fights his feelings and is one of those guys who tried to avoid commitment.

“...all it was were walls to keep people out. Barriers so I wouldn’t get hurt again. But it doesn’t matter because you snuck behind them anyway.”

I loved Kenna and Crosby’s journey. Their growth throughout the story made me fall in love with them. I listened to most of this on audiobook and really enjoyed the narration.

Loved it.

Loved reading this book, Maxine and Joe have done a fantastic job bringing it to life in audio.

So following on from Reckless Memories, I was looking forward to what Prefect Wreckage would bring. We already had the dynamics of Kenna and Crosby’s relationship, which seemed to be hostile at best.

Catherine’s yet again taken us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions with this one, from the POV of both Kenna and Crosby. Both have built giant walls around their hearts, neither wanting to let any of those bricks fall. Yet one by one, wether they want to or not, they start tumbling.

Seeing each other for who they really are could be the making of them.

However the past has decided to rear its ugly head for not one, but both of them, with terrifying consequences.

In amongst all the heartache and angst, there are some laugh out loud moment, including, for me, one spectacular wahooooo, Hi-five/fist bump moment, had someone been sitting next to me who understood to reciprocate would have been great 🤣🤣🤣

Throughly enjoyed this book, couldn’t but it down.

I can’t wait for Caelyn and Griffin, this is going to interesting.

Amazing story!

There is one thing I know for sure when I listen to Catherine Cowles. The story is going to be amazing. It will tear my heart apart, but she will put it back together. Kenna has had her share of hurt and grief over the years, and her heart is guarded. Living with Harriet has been her safeguard and the one place she feels loved. Crosby is Harriet's lawyer, and nothing excites him more then riling Kenna up. Friends to lovers, these to find their relationship changing when circumstances change. Nothing prepares them for the storm that is coming, and the feelings that result. Cowles writes this story with so much feeling, it was like experiencing it all with these characters. Their romance is passion filled, and full of bumps and I love that in a story. Then we have the story outside of the couple, and it's intriguing. I love the power play, the desperation and suspense it brings to the story. It creates a full story, letting us get to know the town, the community and just what it takes to be happy. With a strong woman like Kenna and a romantic like Crosby, it's impossible not to love this story. I can't wait to see with Cowles brings us next!

Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are cast for this story, and a better fit could not have been found. Not only does their chemistry spill over into the story, but they find the essence of the characters and give them life. Mitchell is one of my favorites, bringing so richness to the story. She has a way of using her voice to make me see what is happening. Arden adds his special touch to Crosby, making the man irresistible. I love this team and loved their story telling!

This is such a heartbreakingly emotional rollercoaster of a read. My first read by this author and the second in a standalone small town series. The suspense, the small town vibes the opposite attract, small town kinda frienimies to lovers situation. It deals with grief and loss and finding hope again after being broken by the past. I'll definitely be picking up other reads by this author and I LOVED Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell in the duel narrators
